This week in baseball!

Varsity Highlights

In their first game against Niwot, senior Charlie Pierce took command on the mound, throwing five innings and yielding only two hits while striking out an impressive 11 batters. His stellar performance propelled the Yotes to a 9-1 victory. Sophomore Blake Thompson also shone at the plate, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs, while fellow sophomore Chase Knudsen contributed with a three-hit game.

The second game on Thursday featured sophomore Brody Montemayor on the mound, who pitched a complete game, allowing just 1 earned run and striking out three. Unfortunately, the Yotes struggled offensively and fell by a score of 3-5.

Junior Varsity Success

The Junior Varsity squad had a fantastic week, sweeping both of their games. On Tuesday, sophomore Brendan Radder took the lead on the mound, allowing only one earned run and striking out seven over 4 2/3 innings. At the plate, junior Bryson Venne was unstoppable, finishing the game a perfect 3 for 3 with two RBIs.

In Thursday's matchup against Legacy, the Yotes were led by sophomore Dominic Cortez, who hit his first home run of the season – a three-run blast – and added an RBI single. Carter Kalkofen pitched five innings, giving up just one earned run on five hits. The game ended dramatically, with freshman Marek Maciszewski delivering the walk-off victory with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning!

The C team had an even split for the week, finishing 1-1. They secured a 5-0 shutout victory over Niwot, but faced a tough Legacy team, ending the week with a 2-3 loss.
