To attend and volunteer for the parties you must have this form filled out: Party Volunteer Form
You must also have the GISD Volunteer form filled: GISD Volunteer Application Process
STUDENTS ARE CONSIDERED LATE AFTER 8:10 AM
Doors lock at 8:10, so parents must walk a student to the office after 8:10 am.
For the safety of your student, you must walk your child up and sign them in after 8:10 am.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES MUST BE MADE BY 2:30 PM
Communicate transportation changes with your child's teacher AND the front office by 2:30 pm.
In order to ensure that all parties have received the appropriate information, and to get your child safely to the correct dismissal location, we require all transportation changes to be called into the front office AND communicated with the teacher before 2:30 pm.
NO PARENT PICK UPS BETWEEN 3:10 AND 3:30 PM
Early pick-ups must occur before 3:10 pm.
The process to check out, call for your student, have them pack up and meet you at the front can take up to 10 minutes. As a campus, we begin our end of day procedures between 3:20-3:25 and students are on the move to dismissal locations by 3:27 pm. We are unable to accommodate any parent pick-ups within this time frame.
ALL CARLANE PICK UPS REQUIRE A KIMBERLIN CAR TAG
To ensure we dismiss students only to approved adults, you must have a car tag in the car lane. If not, you will be asked to park and walk into the office and show a drivers license.
Student safety is our number one priority at dismissal, and we must verify that we are handing students off to an approved adult at the end of each day.
Every Minute Counts for Your Student
Did you know that even a few minutes of missed school time can add up to a significant loss of learning over the course of a year? In Texas, elementary students are required to attend school for 75,600 minutes annually. While that may sound like a lot, every minute of instruction is carefully planned to support your child’s growth and success.
For example, if a student is 10 minutes late to school just twice a week, that adds up to 20 minutes a week, 80 minutes a month, and over 13 hours of missed instruction by the end of the school year. That’s equivalent to missing more than two full school days! Similarly, checking out early on a regular basis can have the same cumulative impact.
When students arrive on time and stay for the entire school day, they benefit from:
A strong start to their morning with key routines and instruction.
Opportunities to engage in collaborative learning activities.
Full access to lessons that build foundational skills and knowledge.
We understand that occasional late arrivals or early checkouts are sometimes unavoidable. However, by prioritizing punctuality and full-day attendance whenever possible, you help set your child up for success and show them the importance of valuing their education.
Thank you for partnering with us to make every minute count for our students!

LUNCH VISITOR POLICY
Beginning January 2025, we will be able to accommodate six families per grade level for lunch visits. To ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all families, each family may sign up for one visit per month. Additionally, we ask that no more than four visitors attend per student, which includes younger siblings.
Due to the limited number of slots available, it is essential that you inform the school office more than 24 hours in advance if you are unable to attend your scheduled visit. This will allow us to open up the spot for another family.
