FROM THE NURSE
MEDICATION PICKUP INFORMATION
Please pick up your child's medication from the school clinic by the last day of school, Friday, May 22. To adhere to safety guidelines, schools are unable to store any medications during the summer break. Therefore, any medication left behind will be discarded. Kindly remember that students are not permitted to carry their own medication home. If you cannot pick up your child’s medication, email the school nurse to arrange an alternative pickup on Tuesday, May 26. Thank you for your cooperation.
🤩 OAKFEST FIELD DAY 🤩
Oak Fest was a wild success!
Thank you to Coach Kenner for thoughtfully planning all of the activities and logistics of the day!
We are grateful for our parent volunteers - we couldn't do it without you!
Congratulations to our Published Poets!
Throughout March, I encouraged students to submit poetry for consideration in the publication of the Young American Poetry Digest and I'm super excited (and proud!) that twenty-two of our students will be published in this year's digest. Please congratulate these young poets on this great accomplishment and keep encouraging your kiddos to write. Poetry is an amazing way for students to express themselves and young people are often natural poets because they write so freely. I've truly loved reading the poetry your children have written this year!
Congratulations to:
Kindergarten: June C., Faye L., Edith O., Ever S., Henry P., and Paul L-M.
1st Grade: Theo L., Ellie L., Langston R., Maren K., Riya S., and Ellie Smith
2nd Grade: Cal S., Kira S., Meira F., Dylan C., McClees G., Arlo B., Ann G., Lenora L., June L., and Victor D.
☀️ Summer Reading! ☀️
Prevent the "summer slide" by encouraging your child to read every day over the summer! The Oakhurst Summer Reading packet is filled with lots of summer reading trackers and activities to keep literacy flowing while we're away from school.
Included in the packet are links to local summer reading programs from Decatur Public Library, Little Shop of Stories, and Half Price Books, as well as online programs from the Atlanta Hawks, Book It!, and Reading is Fundamental.
Happy Summer Reading!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Food Insecurity Request Form
Oakhurst families, please complete and submit this food insecurity request form if your student is experiencing food insecurity within the home and is in need of some supplemental weekend snacks.
The Decatur Education Foundation supplies Oakhurst with snack bags for any student in need. This request form will go directly to our school counselor, Ms. King, and she will send home a snack bag with your student every Friday. Please go through each week's snack bag to remove any snack you may not want your child to have due to allergy concerns, etc.
