STA Weekly Update

At St. Thomas Aquinas School, we educate students in the Catholic faith, nurture Christian values, and provide a rigorous academic curriculum consistent with the highest standards promulgated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the California Department of Education.

Mr. Mendez, our middle school math teacher, is on official deployment and will be away until the end of October. I will teach his math classes during his absence to ensure continuity in your child's education. I am committed to providing our students with the consistent, quality education they deserve.

Students will join Google Classroom next week when they receive their electronic devices. Google Classroom will serve as a communication and resource-sharing platform for each math class.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We appreciate your understanding and support during this time.

A reminder that lunch forms for September are due TODAY! 8/21/24.

No late forms will be accepted.

Please join us for our first school mass of the academic year on Thursday, 8/22/24, at 8:00 am.

Students must wear their mass uniform and black or white shoes. Failure to follow uniform policy on Thursdays will result in a phone call asking you to bring the correct uniform for your student. (We are aware that new families are waiting for uniform deliveries).

Parent informational session will take place next Tuesday, 8/27/24, at 6:00 pm over Zoom.

You will get information regarding student and parent expectations, coaches for each subject, days students must stay after school, and competitions.

As we prepare for the sports season in September, we are thrilled to announce that our school is in need of enthusiastic volunteers to coach our flag football team, volleyball team, and cheer squad. Your involvement will not only make a significant impact on our students' experiences but also play a crucial role in fostering a strong sense of teamwork and school spirit. Your contribution is significant and meaningful.

We start the CYO sports season with Boys' and Girls' Flag Football (5th—8th grade) and Girls' Volleyball (5th—8th grade).

We will also begin sign-ups for year-round cheerleading.

Back-to-school night BBQ will occur on Friday, 8/30/24, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.

We are grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their generous support. They will be grilling burgers for us at the back-to-school night BBQ, making our event even more special.

Ms. Urena will send a sign-up genius for donations to make our event extraordinary for our school community. Thank you so much for your contributions in advance.
