PTA Weekly Update
August 17, 2026
September 21, 2026
Good morning Huskie families,
We're in the single digits - there are nine days left in PTA Membership Drive! The competition between classes is heating up! Today is a GREAT DAY to join the PTA.
A few other reminders:
- It's Anti-Bully Week! See info below on spirit days and other activities that will take place during the week.
- We're looking for volunteers to help with our Art Awareness program. This is a super fun way to help out in your child's classroom. No experience? No problem! We provide everything you need to do the lesson. Sign up here.
- Does your child love to draw, paint, dance, take photographs, or make videos? Consider entering the National PTA Reflections Art Program! Fill out this form if your student plans to participate.
Let's BEAR DOWN On Bullies - It's Anti-Bully Week!
It's time to BEAR DOWN on bullies! Anti-Bullying Week is sponsored by the PTA and provides opportunities for our school community to learn more about treating each other with respect and kindness. See the image above for info on spirit days that support this week's theme.
A highlight of the week will include an all-school assembly on Wednesday, September 23, led by Staley the Bear! Make sure your students wear their BLUE and ORANGE for the BEAR DOWN ON BULLIES assembly.
Final Days: Join the Spring Brook PTA
Nine Days Left to Join the PTA
Another week of our membership drive, another reason why you should join...
With funds raised last year, we were able to purchase an outdoor picnic table that had been on the school's wish list. Lots of teachers offer lunch with a teacher as a blizzard buck reward, and now we have the perfect spot to do this on nice weather days! We also purchased all new signage for the LMC, continuing the redesign of that space, making it easier for our Huskies to find that perfect book!
Your involvement can be as much or as little as you wish, but your membership alone goes a long way toward our ability to provide opportunities for our Spring Brook Community throughout the year. Our success as an organization depends on parent, teacher, and community involvement.
Please join us by becoming a Spring Brook PTA member this year!
Calendar magnets will be sent home soon to the first 200 members who registered.
Kindergarten has retaken the lead of our membership class competition, but there is still time for any class to climb to the top! At the end of our membership campaign, the top classroom at every grade level will win $20, and the top overall classroom will win $50! The top grade will receive a special treat for all students.
Call for Art Awareness Volunteers!
Get Creative While Helping in the Classroom
Do you love art or love to help out in your child's classroom? The PTA is looking for parents to volunteer to teach Art Awareness lessons to your child's class.
We provide everything you need to do the lesson, no experience necessary!
Volunteers pair up and teach the students about well-known artists and their works and then facilitate an art project inspired by the style. All teaching materials, training, and activities are provided for volunteers. The students always enjoy the lessons and will amaze you with their interpretation of the art presented.
Sign up here for ONE spot only. You will self-schedule one lesson with your teacher in the semester you are assigned to.
Thanks for helping keep art flowing through our school!
National PTA Reflections Art Program Call for Entries
Explore the Arts and Express Yourself
The national PTA has been committed to arts education for more than 50 years. Students who love art, music, photography, dance, writing, or film are invited to create original works of art for the PTA's Art Reflections Program. Each year, hundreds of thousands of students in pre-K through grade 12 participate, creating artwork in response to a student-created theme.
The theme for the 2026-2027 Art Reflections Program is: “What My Culture Means to Me.” Please fill out this form to receive an official entry form along with more detailed information on how to submit projects and abide by category guidelines. Entries are due by Friday, October 9.

IPPC Winter Coat and Boot Drive
Indian Prairie Parents' Council Collection Will Help Keep Our Community Warm This Winter
Our school is collecting new or lightly-used winter coats and snow gear to help IPSD 204 families in need. Between September 14 and 25, families can drop off clean coats, boots, snow pants, hats, scarves, and gloves/mittens in the collection box that will be near the main entrance (door 1).
These winter essentials will be available for free to any IPSD 204 family to select items between 9 AM and 3 PM Wednesday, September 30, and 4 to 7 PM Thursday, October 1, at Georgetown Elementary School, 995 Long Grove Drive, Aurora. The winter coat and boot drive is sponsored by the Indian Prairie Parents’ Council.
Community Relations
A Note from Our Community Relations Chair:
The PTA is always looking for new ways to partner with the community to enrich the lives of our students. We expanded our sponsorship program last year and plan to continue these efforts in the 2026-2027 school year.
If your family owns or is connected to a local business and is interested in sponsoring a Spring Brook event, please see the attached letter for more information or reach out to Ellen Mulryan.
