π« Principal's Message: Bringing the Village Back
There is an old saying that says βit takes a village to raise a child.β This year, we want to bring that village back to Prescott Junior High.
This week, we held our District wide volunteer training, and I was happy to see community members willing to give their time and talents to support our students. Whether it is helping during lunch, reading with a student, assisting at an event, mentoring a young person, or simply being another positive adult on campusβyour presence matters.
Our next opportunity to strengthen that partnership will be our first Parent Engagement Night on September 10 at 5:30 PM. That evening is designed to help families better understand what is happening academically at PJH and how we can work together throughout the year.

It's officially football season!
Our Curley Cubs and Curley Wolves take on Hope this week, and we are excited to see our students, families, and community come out and support our teams. Please see the image as a reminder of our game day expectations.
π ATLAS Interim Assessments Are Coming
Our first round of ATLAS Interim Assessments is right around the corner.
Interim assessments give our teachers important information about what students already understand and where additional instruction or support may be needed. We use this information to adjust instruction, plan interventions, and make sure students continue growing throughout the year.

π Partnering to Improve Student Attendance
Prescott Junior High is excited to partner with the University of ArkansasβFayetteville as we work to better understand and address chronic absenteeism.
As part of this partnership, our 7th and 8th grade students will complete a brief 10-minute survey. The information gathered will help us better understand the factors that may affect school attendance and how schools can better support students and families.
Chronic absenteeism generally refers to missing 10% or more of the school days a student is enrolled, and Arkansas identifies students at that level as high-risk for chronic absence.

π¬ Questions to Ask Your Child This Week
Instead of asking only βHow was school today?β, try questions that encourage your child to tell you more about what is happening at school.
Ask your child...
1. π What is something you learned this week that you didn't know before?
2. π What class is going really well for you right now? Why?
3. π€ What is something at school that you need help with?
4. β€οΈ Who is an adult at school you feel comfortable going to if you need help?
5. π― What is one goal you have for yourself next week?
Sometimes the best way to support your child's education is simply to start the conversation.
