Introducing Power-Hour Introducing Power-Hour

We’re thrilled to introduce the HMS Power-Hour, a dedicated hour during the school day from

12:48 PM to 1:48 PM, designed to give students academic support, flexibility, & choice. During this time, students will have the opportunity to:

  • eat lunch,
  • attend tutorials for extra academic help,
  • participate in clubs & enrichment activities,
  • work on classwork, and
  • enjoy some personal recreational time to recharge.

Power-Hour eliminates the need for before or after-school commitments by offering extra help and tutoring opportunities during the school day. It encourages students to develop time management skills and make meaningful choices preparing them for the responsibilities and independence of life beyond middle school.

To ensure a safe and supportive environment, teachers and administrators will be actively present and available throughout Power-Hour to assist, supervise, and engage with students as needed.

Please utilize the pre-arranged student early check out procedures (outlined below) whenever possible. Extended wait times are likely to occur when early checkout has not been pre-arranged and a student must be located in the building during Power-Hour. The cutoff time for pre-arranged early checkout during Power-Hour is 11:48 AM.

We’re excited to bring this enriching addition to the 2025–2026 school schedule. We believe Power-Hour will be a positive and empowering part of our students' school experience!
