PBIS January Student Summary
Mill Valley students continue to work hard to demonstrate their respect, their responsibility, and their kindness. At the end of each month, behavior referral (majors and minors) graphs are shared with the staff and students. We wanted to share data trends with you, as well. When teachers share the graphs with their students, they facilitate important conversations about behavior in regard to trends, noticings, and potential actions to decrease the number of behavior referrals each month.
Below are some noticings and patterns from our staff and students:
1st and 4th grade had the least number of major/minors in January
Referrals most often happen in the classroom and in the bathroom
We need to show integrity and meet expectations all of the time, even when adults aren’t looking or right by us
Referrals happen least often in the lunchroom
Majority of kids at Mill Valley are doing a great job of trying their best and aren’t receiving behavior referrals
In addition, our students have earned 2,129 Paw Prints in the month of January! As a reminder, students earn Paw Prints for being caught being respectful, responsible, or kind.

- Linked HERE is a schedule of the readings each week. The Monday following a week of reading, there will be trivia questions for students to answer at school!
- Mill Valley Staff members recorded each chapter for students to listen to if that option works better for your family! The audio recordings are provided in this link.
Thank you in advance for participating in this fun all school activity!
Special THANK YOU to the PTO for funding the purchase of the books for each student.
Attendance Reminders & Doctor's Notes
Did you know we look at attendance reports every week?
Getting your student to school every day and on time is the key to lifelong success and is a great life skill.
If your child is going to be absent for any reason or late to school, there are two ways to let us know...
- Leave a voicemail on the attendance line at 262-971-1830 #2.
- Submit an Absence Request in Infinite Campus through your Parent Portal.
If you have a doctor's note for an absence, you can send it with your student to drop off in the office or email it directly to kimberly.reichart@muskegonorway.org. Doctor Excused Absences (DRX) are NOT counted towards 10 absences.
Please join us on April 2nd anytime between 5:30-7:00 PM at Bay Lane Elementary for our 4K Student and Caregiver Open House. When you arrive, be sure to grab a Student Bingo Card that will lead you and your child through our 4K classrooms. Each classroom will be open with a designated activity for students to participate in. During the open house, students and caregivers will have an opportunity to learn more about math, literacy, fine motor, music/movement and social skills. It should take approximately 30-45 minutes to visit all the planned activities. There will be classroom teachers and administrators available to provide information and answer general questions you might have. More information regarding 4K and registration can be found on our district website.
Friendship Parties, February 14th
As you know, we have transitioned away from using edible treats for birthdays school-wide. With Valentine’s Day approaching, we want to remind everyone that this will also apply to Valentine’s Day celebrations. Food-based items are not allowed for the Valentine exchange. There are many non-food based options such as bouncy balls, glow sticks, slime, etc.
Any edible treats brought to school will be sent back home.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

2025-26 Incoming 4K Student and Caregiver Open House
This year, classroom teachers will be teaching with two new resources! This will be an adjustment for staff, students, and parents/caregivers. We want to be sure to offer multiple opportunities to keep families engaged and learning alongside our staff and students.
Each month, there will be a short recorded presentation shared with you that answers a focus question. The videos will cover various curriculum topics. Please see the outline below. These videos will be linked in school newsletters and posted on the Muskego-Norway Teaching and Learning website.
The December topic focuses on literacy instruction, including strategies and ideas for supporting literacy development at home.
Join us for a movie day at Marcus Ridge on Friday February 28th at 1 pm.
Please submit RSVP and payment by Wednesday February 18th.
Cash, check (to MV PTO), Venmo or online payment all accepted.
Last call to purchase our ski club card is February 4th for this season.
With the club card the lift tickets are only $30 after 3pm everyday, except Saturday.
Also it comes with a free ski or snowboard lesson. After February 18th the club card is valid everyday until the end of the season so you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding for only $30 for a lift ticket all day.
