A Note from Mrs. Phillips

Hello Family and Friends!

Wow—what an end to January! We hope you are all staying warm and safe after winter storm Fern. It’s certainly one our kids will remember. As of now, these missed days will be made up at the end of May. Mr. Duncan will continue to keep families updated as we receive guidance from the state.

There are so many exciting things happening in February! Please be sure to review the important dates listed below. Beginning in Quarter 3, we will be implementing a new attendance and work compliance incentive. More information can be found in the attached letter that will be sent home in Thursday folders next week.

PTO is offering a night out for YOU! Check out their Glow Party information, where they will watch your students while you have a night out for Valentine's Day. This will be a great opportunity to enjoy some quiet time and help support our PTO. They are also selling Candy Grams during the week of February 2nd-6th. Please find the order form in your child's Thursday folder. All forms and money are due February 6th.

Random Acts of Kindness Day is February 17th. FCA will be providing notes for students to fill out during lunch and deliver to staff and classmates. This is a wonderful way to spread joy throughout the building, reinforce our FC culture, and model kindness. Notes are free and will be available all week leading up to the 17th.

IREAD tutoring is in full swing for 3rd grade and will soon begin for 2nd grade. Here is a link to the IDOE IREAD webpage for more information. IREAD is an important indicator monitored by the state and a strong measure of reading success. The best way to support your child—starting in kindergarten—is to read together regularly. To see how we did last year, please click here to find us on GPS (Indiana Graduates Prepared to Succeed).

If you have any questions or need additional information, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If there is anything we can do better, we always welcome your feedback. We look forward to a warmer February filled with learning, kindness, and continued growth—thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Phillips

Weather Related Closures

As much as we hate to face it, colder weather is upon us. When bad weather hits, our team is on the roads early, checking conditions and working with local officials to decide if delays or cancellations are needed.

Every decision is made with one goal in mind…keeping our students, families, and staff safe.

We are hopeful this graphic helps explain the process of making these decisions. We thank you in advance for your grace and understanding as we move into a new season.
