Special Friday Release Dates and Times for the 2024-2025 School Year

We are inviting our families to attend a special evening hosted by our staff to give you a detailed look at your child's daily life as a Woodland Wildcat. As a parent, you see your child off to the bus or drop them at the doors each school day, but what happens next? That's where we come in! We will be covering their daily schedule, what their lunch/recess, snack, playtime and other special activities look like. We want you to know what your child experiences as prek student or kindergarten student at Primary each day. Please look at the schedules below as they are designated by program. You will also receive an invitation by your child's teacher as the event gets closer.

Our event starts in your child's classroom, following your child's teacher presentation, come visit us in the gym and cafeteria to see all of the amazing resources we have to offer our families!

Earlier this week on Monday, September 16th, we held our bus evacuation drills. All students learned about bus safety and how to exit a bus safely in the event of an emergency.

Our next safety drill will be this Thursday, September 26th. It will be our fire drill practice. We will have an AM drill and a PM drill. This will allow our preschoolers to participate during their AM or PM session. This will give our kindergarten students a chance to practice our drill two times. We conduct this drill in cooperation with the Gurnee Fire Department. Our staff will be teaching students the protocols for evacuating a building in the event of a fire and preparing them for the drill.

At home you can discuss the drill with your child. Remind them that these are just practice drills and that all of the adults in the building are there to keep them safe. They may not like the loud noise of the alarm, but talking about it at school and at home can reinforce that loud alarms help everyone to stay safe.

A great way to start a family discussion is to read stories about fire safety. Below are two great titles we recommend.

Modeling for your child at an early age that even the smallest hands can beautify and care for the planet, their learning place and the environment is a powerful message to send. Our annual Green Apple Day of Service is an engaging way to volunteer as a family, have fun and make a difference in your community all at the same time! This will be our 10th year hosting this special day of service and each year we commit to making the Primary School a better learning environment for our students and staff. Join us and bring the whole family on Saturday, September 28th, rain or shine! Details below!

Check out the list of materials we will be using on Green Apple Day, if you plan to attend or can't make our event, another way to help us on our day of service is to donate an item from our list. We are looking forward to a great day of volunteerism and working together and a school community.

We are excited to announce that on each first Friday of the month we will show unity in District #50 with our PBIS Spirit Days. We invite you to wear Woodland ROAR gear or our district colors, green and white. You belong in District #50. Let the GREEN be SEEN!
