It was AP Appreciation Week, and we are so grateful to our two amazing Assistant Principals, Ms. Mendoza and Ms. Maduro-Johnson for all they do each and every day to support the students, staff, and families. They are truly a dynamic duo.

Thank you to Ms. Reyna for all the amazing things she does to build relationships and a love of reading with all students at Webb. We are so lucky to have her here.

Project Males took 10 of our Webb young men to visit UT for a tour and to attend and participate in actual college classes. Of course, their favorite part was the chance to eat in the UT dining hall.

In Ms. Villareal's Health Class the students learn how to do CPR. We love the hands-on training students are getting in Health Class.

The Cafe Club Interventions have come to an end this week, but not before celebrating the students success with lots of snacks and fun time. It was very well-deserved, and we are confident they are ready for the STAAR test.

Great things are happening everywhere in our halls.

On April 3, 2024, the Webb Band had two master teachers on campus to work with our clarinet and saxophone students. Professor Paula Corley and her husband Al Corley have been music educators in Texas for almost 35 years. They taught in Plano for several years at the high school level, and eventually became educators at the middle and university level, too. Paula Corely is a representative of Buffet Crampon and Vandoren, two companies who Webb relies on for their instruments and reed instrument supplies. Al Corely is a professional saxophonist with his DMA in saxophone performance and education. Ms. Gloria is a former student of Paula, having worked under her in woodwind methods and pedagogy.

We are so thankful for their mastery and willingness to work with our kids. They learned so much in the hour that we had together, and already sound completely different after one day. It isn't often that middle school students get to work with some of the best clarinet and saxophone educators in Texas!

Paula and Al had nothing but wonderful things to say about the students and band directors. The students were a joy to work with, and showed the respect and drive they have thanks to their band directors. They were also impressed with their playing ability, which isn't seen at this high of a level in most middle schools!

We are so proud of the athletes. Great work coaches, Sansano and De La Garza.

Dear Parents,

We do have school on Monday April 8th, and we will be enjoying the eclipse together. We have the glasses and extra treats to celebrate this event. Parents are welcome to come to participate with us as well. Tuesday, April 9th is our very important STAAR reading test. Please be sure that your child is in school that day with their computer. Also, please have them get plenty of rest the night before so they can do their best. On Wednesday, April 10th, there is no school for students in honor of Eid al-Fitr.

Parents can sign up their children all year for fun, after-school activities.

Sign up for Tools for Success Classes. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Victoria at Hanny.Tuffentsamer@austinisd.org

DIRECTOR OF AUSTIN VOICES FAMILY RESOURCE CENTERS

We're proud to invite you to join Austin Voices for Education and Youth, Child Inc. and the Northeast ECHS Vertical Team of Austin ISD schools for our 19th Annual St. John Unity Walk and 8th Annual KidsFest at Northeast Early College High School on Saturday, April 20, 2024! Both of these events have become favorite traditions which started in the St. John Community and have now spread into the entire Northeast ECHS vertical team of schools and surrounding neighborhoods. The Unity Walk parade assembles at Webb ECPA at 9:00 am, starts promptly at 9:30 am, proceeds downhill on St. John Ave., and arrives at Northeast Early College High school to kick off Kidsfest at 10:00 am. KidsFest draws 1000-2000 people each year.

These events give opportunities for your school to invite your parents, students and school staff to be involved in ways that are FUN, showcase all that your school has to offer (as an exhibitor) and raise money through PTA food sales to support your school!

Our KidsFest Planning Team meets every Friday at 10am by Zoom. You are welcome to drop in to learn more!

KidsFest is a "Cradle to College & Career" event that has lots of fun activities for children of all ages, including crafts, games, kiddie train, ponies, climbing wall, live student performances, music and entertainment, food sales by AISD school PTAs, an Early Childhood Zone, College and Career Zone, Health Zone with insurance screenings, health, family support and educational resources provided by many community partners.

Since we are an Early College Vertical Team of schools, we are excited about our College and Career Zone. We're looking for colleges, skilled trade schools, adult education programs and even employers to share information with high school students and adults who are contemplating their next educational or professional step.

We invite you to join us for a celebration of community schools!
