Happy Friday!

Dear Families,

As we prepare for conferences and the Thanksgiving break, we want to share our gratitude for everyone in our school community. Your partnership makes it possible for students to come to school every day, on time and ready to learn.

Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to connect with peers and teachers, and to grow personally, socially and academically.

We are thankful for:

  • Our students and their families who show up to school regularly, even when it isn’t easy.
  • Our staff who go above and beyond to help make school a welcoming learning environment and help us stay safe, connected and excited about learning.
  • Our many healers and helpers from support staff and volunteers who provide the extra hands and attention our students need.

We appreciate each one of you.

If your family or your child needs support, please reach out to our school counselor, Monica Schneider at mmschneider@seattleschools.org.

Have a wonderful week next week with No School for students Nov. 24-28! I hope you all have time to rest a rejuvenate and be with family and friends. Have a lovely Thanksgiving!

Artist in residence for 3rd/5th grades

Jeffie lou Jackson, aka Ms. J, is a Creative Advantage Dance teaching Artist working with our 3rd and 5th graders. 3rd grade is learning Hip2Hop that is the History of Hip-hop and all students will learn movement from a decade of time and specific dance styles from that decade. 1970’s/Disco, 1980-90’s and 2000-Current Hip-hop.

5th grade will learn STEP! Students learn movement that originates from African American Fraternities and Sororities. “STEP” or STEPPING is dance form that uses hands, feet and body to make rhythmic sounds of music as they dance in movement.

We will have an assembly Dec 19 (time TBD) to share their learning! More info to come!

Thanks so much,

Have a great week!

Warmly,

Liz McFarland (she/her)

There will be pizza provided. Parents and children will work on projects needed for this year's school play, The Jungle Book. We will be making rocks, leaves, vines, flowers, trees, snakes and lizards and painting our large (4-8 ft.) panels for our set.

All children (5th grade and younger) must be accompanied by an adult. Teens are welcome and can receive community service hours.

Please fill out the form so we know how much pizza to get. (Feel free to just show up if you don't plan on having pizza).

Thank you for being a part of your school's play this year.
