Are you a high school junior who loves science, technology, engineering, or mathematics?
Imagine spending five weeks on a college campus, working alongside other talented students from across Pennsylvania, conducting hands-on research, and exploring advanced STEM topics!
Applications are now open for the 2027 Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS) at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh!
What Is PGSS?
PGSS is an intensive, five-week summer residential program designed for current high school juniors with a strong interest in science and mathematics.
Students will have the opportunity to:
🔬 Participate in hands-on laboratory research and scientific investigations.
🧪 Explore advanced topics in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
🤝 Collaborate with other motivated students who share their passion for STEM.
🎓 Experience life on a college campus while living and learning at Carnegie Mellon University.
💡 Challenge themselves academically and explore potential STEM careers.
Program Details
📅 Dates: June 27 – July 31, 2027
📍 Location: Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA
🏫 Format: Five-week, residential summer program
👩🎓 Who Can Apply: Current Pennsylvania high school juniors

YES! All accepted students receive a full scholarship!
The scholarship covers:
Housing on campus
Meals
Instructional materials
Program costs
Families are responsible only for transportation to and from Carnegie Mellon University, personal items, and spending money.
Students must live on campus for the full five-week program.
