This edition of the FACE Highlights is dedicated to all our families who attended the Family and Community University sessions.
What started as a possibility turned into a fantastic reality! When we talked about creating a university for parents, we did not want to do what everybody else was doing. In Aldine, we always go big! We wanted to include everyone: parents, uncles, tías, grandparents, compadres, everyone!
We are very proud of what the Family and Community University accomplished:
- 90 sessions from October 1st to May 11th
350 parents took 1,492 classes
62 parents completed the graduation requirements
One parent completed the GED Program at Lone Star College.
Two parents completed the DePelchin Dads Program.
Santa Maria Hostel highlighted one of our families on its website for their participation in the Strengthening Families program.
52 parents registered for ESL classes, and four people completed the program at Lone Star College
18 parents enrolled at Lone Star College for The Spanish Conversation Class
18 parents participated in the Focus Groups
One parent completed the basic Literacy Skills.
One parent from Dallas ISD attended some sessions.
Nacogdoches ISD accessed some sessions.
Six parents received support in completing job applications.
The district hired one parent as an LPAC Clerk.
One parent was admitted into the alternative certification program at the University of Houston.
Eighteen families received in-person Home Access Center support.
