Principal's Message
Tiger Family,
A special shout out to all students who attended Prom this weekend. We had a blast at the Crystal Ballroom, and all 472 students who attended were classy, energetic, and polite- such a proud day for all of us who chaperoned the dance (thank you to each adult who made the event possible, and a special shout out to Mrs. Trinidad and the ASB students who planned the dance!).
We are in the final stretch of the school year with 17 days left (12 for Seniors). As we move rapidly towards June, I want to remind you of resources available to you and your student, should they need more support. First and foremost, seniors and senior families, please connect with us if you are struggling. Those final credits are pertinent towards graduation and we want to help. For all students, there is FREE after school tutoring Monday-Thursday from 2:30-3:30pm, in Mr. Ryan's room. We have two teachers and a handful of National Honor's Society students ready to help all students! In addition, if credit recovery is needed (for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who have previously failed a class), summer school is an option. We have just a few Tiger Time sessions remaining. Students, please work with your teachers to arrange a check out. In addition, next year, we can schedule a period of online credit recovery during the school day, or add a 7th period for students wanting to work outside the scheduled school day. Our credit recovery lab is open until 3:30pm each day in the library. We are here for you if you need support. Please reach out- Student Support Teams are listed below. Great job to all students who are passing all their classes and have worked hard to avoid the last minute end of school year crunch!
Keep at it, BGHS.
Heather Ichimura, Proud Principal

Seniors! How to save your Google Files
Congrats Seniors!
If you are graduating this year and will not be returning to Battle Ground Public Schools this fall, you may want to think about saving some of your Google files before they’re gone.
You can save an archive of your files for future use and transfer it to a personal Google account.
To do this, you will need to use Google Takeout. If you are interested in saving your files, please note this must be done soon, ideally before the end of June. Check out the link below and follow the step-by-step instructions:

New FirstView bus app launching this month
First Student, the district’s student transportation provider, has launched a new version of their FirstView bus tracking app. Please be aware that the older FirstView app will be disabled after mid-May.
The updated app will allow parents and guardians to securely monitor their child‘s daily trips, view near real-time bus locations, view updates or delay notifications and set up family members or caregivers to also receive trip alerts, plus much more. Please be aware that the code to access the parent side of the app is changing. It will be K1Q0K for the updated app.
Boundary exceptions for 2025-26 school year
All families with in-district or out-of-district boundary exceptions (choice transfers) for the 2024-2025 school year need to reapply for the 2025-26 school year.
Please note a change to Choice Transfers for 2024-25 and beyond. Battle Ground Public Schools has switched from paper forms to an online application through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Applications for out-of-district student Choice Transfers in 2025-26 will be accepted starting at 7 a.m. on May 1. Applications submitted prior to that date will be denied, and the family will need to submit a new application after May 1. Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.
More information about this process and forms are on the district website.
Class of 2025 graduations
Graduation ceremonies will be held in just a few months. Learn about the plans for each school.
Speaking of graduation, did you hear that BGPS' class of 2024 had the highest graduation rate in more than a decade?
Finally, in recognition of the many ways that students achieve academic success, BPGS will expand recognitions at high school graduations starting with the class of 2028 (freshmen in 2025). Each high school will recognize the top 5% based on GPA but will not designate a valedictorian and salutatorian. Class rankings will continue to be available as needed. Learn more about this change.
Online accessibility
Ensuring all students have access to a quality education is a primary focus for Battle Ground Public Schools. Technology is a key to enabling access for students with various needs and challenges. Common accessibility tools include text-to-speech (read aloud), speech-to-text (voice dictation), color contrast options and magnification adjustments.
Accessibility features fall under the umbrella of Inclusive Technologies. Visit the district’s online resources page for more information on these resources and how you can access them if needed.

Running Start opportunities
The Running Start program allows students who have completed 10th or 11th grade but have not yet started the next grade to enroll in college courses tuition-free, earning both high school and college credits simultaneously. This program can help students get a head start on their college education while saving money. New for this summer: Students who have completed 10th grade can now participate in Running Start during the summer term, taking up to 10 credits.
Fee waivers are available for students who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, ensuring cost is not a barrier to participation. For more details, including how to apply and access fee waivers, please contact your school counselor or visit the Running Start webpage.
Report Incidents Anonymously with Safe Schools
Please report bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats and safety concerns using our anonymous reporting system. Reporters can remain anonymous. Emergencies should always be reported to 911. Learn more about emergency procedures and safety protocols.
Report, don’t repost
If you see or hear of a possible threat, please report it to law enforcement directly and/or to school staff. This is the best and most helpful action because it begins an investigation and helps to limit the potential for misinformation to spread. Reposting or sharing a threat on social media in an attempt to warn others spreads the threat farther from its original source and may cause unnecessary alarm and fear. You can report bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats and safety concerns using our anonymous reporting system. Emergencies should always be reported to 911.
