This week for lunch...
The month of October has been busy! We have been focused on the value and practice of "I honor diversity and take pride in my community" here in our building, which takes shape in so many ways! We had an amazing celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with an assembly put on by the GHS LULAC club this morning. We learned about several Hispanic cultures, traditions, and dances. We also wrapped up our first quarter and started the second quarter, with lots of students participating in activities in their elective classes. I got to listen to the band and choir students preparing for their first concerts, watch students in the weight room reaching their fitness goals, students in our art classes building incredible pieces out of cardboard and paper, pizzas being cooked in our new life skills kitchens, leather bookmarks coming together in our woodshop, and hot air balloons starting to take shape in STEAM! Core teachers are working with each individual student to meet everyone's diverse needs and strengths and developing fascinating lessons for students in each grade level. We have a lot of pride in our GMS family and I hope you get to witness this at our parent/teacher conferences coming up in the next few weeks! Go, Mustangs!
