Tejeda News
September 18, 2023
Dear Tejeda Timberwolves,
It was another great week in the Den as we welcomed our T-Wolf families for Greenback & Meet the Teacher night. I am extremely grateful for everyone who made time to visit our school. I also extend my thanks to our teachers who provided families with a QR code to link to information so parents could capture important information. Additionally, I wanted to send a huge thank you to our Dance and PALS students who helped welcome parents and assisted them with navigating the campus for this special event. A special thank you to Tejeda’s PTA who successfully organized an online Silent Auction that raised $7695.
Our school is kindly requesting your support for this year’s “Big Give” donation drive. Funds raised this year will help us reinforce our “Leading the P.A.C.K.” initiative that teaches our students to be Proactive, Accountable, Collaborative, and Kind. Funds raised will help us to purchase interior/exterior all weather floor mats, trash cans for the football field/courtyard, P.A.C.K. floor decals and hallway/stairwell banners. These improvements will help students to have pride in our school by demonstrating collaboration to maintain the appearance of the campus. We believe that these purchases will allow us to focus on our essential behavioral values that build strong T-Wolves who are Proactive, Accountable, Collaborative, and Kind. Please consider giving now through September 21st at 6:00 p.m. by clicking on this link: https://bit.ly/3r94dIu
We are excited to announce that our custodial team awards this week’s Silver Spoon to our 6th graders for doing the best job of demonstrating the P.A.C.K. mentality. Thank you to our 6th graders for being Leaders of the P.A.C.K.
Congratulations on a full program sweep for the Football & Volleyball wins against Nimitz this week. We are proud of all our 7th/8th grade athletes on A, B and Go Teams! We look forward to our games against White this coming week.
If you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me at 210-356-5600 or reach out to any member of my leadership team. I have included my team’s email addresses and office phone numbers in the information below in this newsletter. Please look out for the next smore on September 23rd.
Thank you for your time and I appreciate you choosing NEISD and Tejeda Middle School for your student’s educational experience!
Respectfully,
Martha Reyes, Principal

STAAR & TELPAS Online Testing Tutorials:
You can help your student have the opportunity to practice for the upcoming STAAR tests in the spring. All families have access to both STAAR (for all students) and TELPAS (for our second language learners) practice tests online through the TEA Website. The specific components that are available for practice are:
- 2023 STAAR Released and Practice Tests
- 2020 and 2023 TELPAS Released and Practice Tests
These tests are designed to prepare students for the online testing environment. Students will be exposed to the available tools and the various types of test questions. They also provide students with an opportunity to interact with the test interface, respond to questions, and locate and use available tools. These practice tests are released tests that have been administered in a previous year. To gain access to the online practice tests start by clicking Practice Tests Login. Then turn "On" Guest User and "On" Guest Session.
A Message From Our School Counselors:
This month is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. One of the most critical steps in preventing suicide in our youth, is to provide them a safe and open opportunity for conversations around these difficult topics. Although it might be hard to understand sometimes, it is important to know how you can start the conversation with someone who might be struggling with suicide ideation. The attached link from Charlie Health gives some examples of how you that might help you with these difficult conversations when needed.
