REMINDERS AND UPDATES FROM MRS. WOODALL REMINDERS AND UPDATES FROM MRS. WOODALL

It was so great to see everyone at our Open House last night! For those of you who came out, thank you!

Next week is the last week of the six weeks. Learners, please attend tutorials and speak with your designers if you have any concerns about grades. Friday, September 18th is a student holiday and teacher workday.

October 14th is Mansfield ISD's Day of Testing. Freshmen will take the TSIA, sophomores will take the PSAT, juniors will take the PSAT NMSQT, and seniors will have the option of taking a college or career tour day or taking the ASVAB. For our testers, it is very important to come to school on time and with a fully charged laptop. There is NOT a late testing or make-up testing option. For 11th graders, this exam is tied to National Merit Scholarship Qualification. More information can be found on the College Board website here.

PSAT data is used to determine a learner's AP Potential. This helps us decide which AP courses learners will be most successful in based on their PSAT scores. Information on the 10th grade PSAT test can be found at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-8-9.

There will be no Ben Barber classes on October 14th.

Let’s CELEBRATE! If you have had an experience with someone at the Innovation Academies and want to give them a “shout out”, please send me their name and a brief explanation. We would love to make someone’s day! My email address is michellewoodall@misdmail.org.

COUNSELORS CORNER COUNSELORS CORNER

Are you interested in learning about West Point and their application process? Students and their families may choose to attend the West Point Admissions Event in Southlake on Thursday, September 17 from 6-8 pm. For more information and to register, please visit this page.

Seniors, college applications are open! As you work through the process, we wanted to let you know that Texas public universities now have a week where application fees are waived for all students on ApplyTexas (this does not apply to CommonApp or any other type of application). This is a great opportunity to save money on these fees that can add up when applying to multiple schools!

This year’s Free College Application Week is October 12-18. If you plan to take advantage of this opportunity, we encourage you to start working on your applications and essays now so they are ready to submit that week. For ApplyTexas, you will also need to request that your official transcript be sent with the link on this page. For more program information, please see: https://www.highered.texas.gov/free-college-application-week/

Students on free or reduced lunch already have college application fees waived to most schools. CommonApp is recommended for students who qualify for these programs.

Seniors, if Tarrant County College (TCC) is even a small part of your plan after graduation, please read the information below from our TCC enrollment coach, Princess Brown.

Hello, my name is Princess Brown, and I am an Enrollment Coach with Tarrant County College (TCC). If you are interested in attending TCC after high school or are currently a dual credit student, I am here to assist you.

I can help you complete your TCC admission application, meet TSI testing requirements, and submit all required enrollment documents. For current dual credit students, I can also help guide you through the process of transitioning from a dual credit student to a degree-seeking undergraduate student after high school graduation.

Once you have completed the enrollment steps, I will connect you with a Career Advisor who will support you throughout your time at TCC. Your Career Advisor will help you explore your career goals, ensure you are pursuing the degree that best aligns with your aspirations, and assist with course selection each semester to keep you on track for graduation.

I look forward to helping you take the next step in your educational journey at Tarrant County College!

Thank you,

Princess Brown
