Graduating in May? File your Intent to Graduate now!

Students graduating in May 2023 must complete their intent to graduate form by December 2022 in order to participate in Commencement. Please log into your WebAdvisor account at webadvisor.worcester.edu and fill out and submit the online Intent to Graduate form for May 2023 (please make sure you are choosing May 2023 as the December 2022 Intent to Graduate is still an option for the December graduates).

Pre-registration information

Pre-registration for Spring 2023 classes is Nov. 15-18. Your pre-registration time depends on your class standing; see page 2 of the registration packet to find your registration time.

You must meet with your academic advisor to have your account activated for preregistration. Look for an email from your advisor to sign up for an advising time slot.

Checklist before your advising meeting:

  • Check the requirements and timeline for your major to see which classes you should be taking: Environmental Science, Geography. Note that some students, especially transfer students, may follow an adjusted timeline.

Environmental Stewardship - GE299

In this class, you will develop an in-depth understanding of how and why people work together to restore places through environmental stewardship and what impacts that stewardship has on social-ecological systems. You will spend the first third of the semester learning about social science theories, social-ecological systems theory, and learning best practices for community engagement. The second two-thirds of the semester will be devoted to 1) continuing to build out your theoretical knowledge and 2) working directly with a community partner in the Worcester area to participate in environmental stewardship. Click here for more information.

Gamma Theta Upsilon

Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU) is a Geography Honors Society that provides members with lifetime membership, scholarships, and other professional opportunities. Any student can join GTU as long as they've done 3 semesters of college, taken any 3 geography classes, and have a 3.3 GPA in those classes.

If you've taken at least 3 GE/GS classes with an average GPA of 3.3, you COULD and SHOULD join. The sooner you join, the sooner you can take advantage of GTU's scholarship / networking opportunities for undergrads.

Summer I field course in the United Kingdom

Professors Hansen and Reynolds will be taking a group of WSU students to the United Kingdom during the Summer I session. Students will visit the University of Worcester in the west Midlands as well as museums in London. The trip will examine the foundational work, instruments and maps that helped to establish the geologic time scales and the science of geology. The field class counts as an upper level elective with lab. Click here for further information, and email Prof. Reynolds (lreynolds2@worcester.edu) or Prof. Hansen (whansen@worcester.edu) if you are potentially interested.
