AI in Action for Educators
Lesson 5: November 18th, 2025
✨ Differentiate Like a Pro (with Brisk in Google Drive)
This week’s 5-minute video shows how to use Brisk, a free, FERPA-compliant AI tool built right into Google Docs, to quickly adjust materials for your learners. See how Brisk can rewrite directions, change reading levels, or add supports like vocabulary lists and scaffolds — all without leaving your document.
🧠 They’re supports, not replacements for your expertise! AI can save time, but your professional judgment makes it work.
🎥 A quick watch that’ll have you saying, “That’s exactly the support I needed!”

🎬 AI in Action for Educators — Differentiate Like a Pro
Hi everyone, welcome back to AI in Action for Educators!
Today we’re diving into one of my favorite time-savers — using Brisk, an AI tool built right into Google Docs, to help you differentiate materials quickly and effectively.
If you’ve ever wished you had more time to rewrite directions, simplify a reading, or add supports for different learners — Brisk can help. It’s free, FERPA-compliant, and made just for teachers.
💻 Slide: Installing Brisk
To use Brisk, you’ll first need to add it as a Chrome extension.
Just head to the Chrome Web Store and search for ‘Brisk Teaching’.
Click Add to Chrome, and you’ll see Brisk appear as an icon near your browser bar.
Once it’s installed, it will automatically show up in your Google Docs and Slides — ready when you are.”
⭐ Slide: Free Pro Month
“And here’s a little bonus: you can try the Educator Pro account for free for a full month using my link — share.briskteaching.com/mQIMjaf.
That gives you access to extra features like more detailed feedback options and higher usage limits.
It’s a great way to explore everything Brisk can do for your classroom.

Here’s how it works:
When you’re in a Google Doc, just click the Brisk icon on the right side of your screen. Then, highlight a section of text and type a quick prompt — like:
Adjust this passage for three different reading levels.
Rewrite these directions so they’re clearer for English language learners.
Simplify this text for 3rd graders.
Create an advanced version for high-achieving readers.
Brisk doesn’t just rewrite — it gives you options. You stay in control of what version best fits your students.
Within seconds, Brisk generates suggestions right in your document — and you can edit, tweak, or reject them as needed.
Slide: Video Intro to Brisk
Here’s a quick look at some of the amazing things you can do with Brisk. Sure, other AI tools like ChatGPT can do some of these things too — but Brisk is designed for educators, with the privacy and FERPA protection schools really need.

As you see, you can also use Brisk to add scaffolds and extensions. Try prompts like:
Create a vocabulary list and sentence starters or definitions of key words for this passage.
Add comprehension questions for struggling readers.
Add an extension question for advanced learners.
Write three extension questions that require critical thinking.
It’s like having a co-teacher who never runs out of differentiation ideas.
It’s a quick, built-in way to make your lessons more accessible without spending hours rewriting everything yourself.
Slide: Tips
A few important reminders:
Brisk and other AI tools are supports — not replacements for your expertise.
You’ll still need to edit and personalize everything before sharing it with students.
AI sometimes makes things up — so review carefully.
And always make sure what you use aligns with your learning goals and your students’ needs.
Wrap-Up Slide
AI can’t replace good teaching — but it can make great teaching a little easier.
Brisk helps you personalize learning right inside the tools you already use, saving you time while supporting every student.
And remember, you can install it anytime from the Chrome Web Store, or use my link for a free Pro trial: share.briskteaching.com/mQIMjaf.
Next week, we’ll look at another timesaver: how AI can help you give faster feedback to students — while still keeping it personal and meaningful.”
