A Few Notes from Us...
I hope you've had a great end to your October. There were plenty of fun activities in our building and throughout Fenton that brought us all together. I hope you found time to connect with the people closest to you, as well!
Halloweek and Halloween Dance
We had a Halloween Dane on Friday after school. Students who stayed enjoyed dancing, treats, time with friends, and the chance to play football, basketball, and volleyball in the gym. Thanks to all the staff members who stayed to celebrate and supervise, and thank you to Mrs. Wissinger for coordinating the event and our Spirit Week as well!
October Band Concert
We were treated to some great costumes AND some great performances last Wednesday when our bands held their Halloween Concert. Mr. Perkins (dressed below as the skeleton in sunglasses on the microphone) had the bands in top form considering they've only had two months to prepare! Highlights included a spooky opening number - the theme from Halloween. During that performance, the lights were out and the audience participated with phone flashlights. Great job to all of our performers!
Staff Pumpkin Contest
Students have created so much great artwork that our staff decided to get in on the fun with their own creative pumpkins for a contest. From left to right, you'll see pumpkins transformed into Mr. Bradley, Mr. Malecki, Captain Underpants, a spiky pumpkin, a Highland cow, a gumball machine, and a mummy. For the record - Mr. Bradley and I did not create or commission the pumpkins that feature us, but we are flattered!
I also want to share a thank you to our local Fenton Home Depot. The library has benefitted from bookshelves they donated that will help keep our collection more organized and appealing to student readers!
I hope you have had a fantastic autumn weekend! KINDNESS and COURAGE!

November is Gratitude Month with HOPE Squad!
This month, HOPE Squad is encouraging everyone to focus on gratitude and the power of showing appreciation. Gratitude isn't just about making others feel good; it can have a positive impact on our own well-being, too!
When we take the time to recognize the good in our lives, it can boost our mood, improve our outlook, strengthen our relationships, and help us feel more connected to those around us. A simple thank-you or kind gesture can make someone's day and remind them that they are valued and appreciated.
Throughout November, HOPE Squad will be spreading gratitude throughout our school and community with a few fun activities:
Gratitude Wall: Stop by during lunch to write something or someone you are grateful for and add it to our school gratitude wall!
Gratitude Scavenger Hunt: Keep your eyes open and join the hunt as you look for reminders of gratitude throughout the school.
Gratitude Letter Writing (SRT): Take time during SRT to write a heartfelt letter of appreciation to a teacher or community member who has made a positive impact on your life.
Remember, gratitude doesn't have to be big or complicated. Sometimes the smallest acts of appreciation can make the biggest difference. Let's make November a month of recognizing the good, lifting others up, and reminding ourselves of all the things we have to be thankful for!

Health Class Reminder
All middle school students have a four-lesson state mandated health curriculum that our physical education teachers deliver during SRT. Those lessons will begin for some students toward the end of September. We rotate students in for these lessons, then rotate them out once they've had them. Lessons include units on Human Reproduction and HIV/AIDS. According to Public Act 226 of 1977, you have the right to review the materials used in these lessons. If you would like to review the materials, please email Mr. Malecki. You also have the right to excuse your student from participating. If you wish to excuse your student, please complete this Reproductive Health Opt Out Form. Paper copies of this form are available in our main office. If you wish to have your student participate, no action is required.
