Tiger Team & Family,

We hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful weekend after another great week at IDEA McAllen College Preparatory! Our Tigers continue to settle into the school year, and it has been exciting to see so many new opportunities beginning to take shape across campus.

This week brought several exciting new beginnings for our students. We held interest meetings for students looking to get involved in extracurricular opportunities such as chess, dance, and cheer, and we are so glad to see our Tigers finding new ways to connect, explore their interests, and become even more involved in our school community.

It was also an especially meaningful week for our Class of 2027. Our seniors celebrated Senior Sunrise, creating one of the first special memories of their final year together. They also had the opportunity to learn more about life after high school during a visit from a University of Austin representative, while our senior families joined us for an informational Senior Parent Meeting to stay informed about the important milestones and expectations ahead. Senior year moves quickly, and we are grateful for the partnership of our families as we help our students make the most of every opportunity.

As we look ahead, please remember that there will be no classes on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Students will return to campus on Tuesday, September 8. We hope our entire Tiger Team & Family enjoys the long weekend and comes back rested and ready for another strong week.

As always, please take a few moments to review this week’s Parent Weekly Newsletter for important reminders, upcoming events, and campus updates. Thank you for your continued partnership and for everything you do to support our Tigers each day.

With Tiger Pride,
Dr. Nereyda Treviño
Principal

🔅 Senior Sunrise 🔅 🔅 Senior Sunrise 🔅

Friday's Senior Sunrise was one of those special moments we know our Class of 2027 will remember for years to come. Our seniors gathered together to watch the sunrise, spend time with friends, take plenty of pictures, and celebrate the beginning of their final year at IMCP.

After so many years of growing, learning, and making memories together, the countdown to graduation is officially underway.

A huge shoutout to our 12th Grade Team and Grade Team Leader Mr. Alex Valdez for organizing such a meaningful morning for our seniors and helping make this milestone extra special!

National Suicide Prevention Month National Suicide Prevention Month

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Together, we can raise awareness, offer support, and share resources that can help save lives. At IDEA, we all have a role to play in supporting the mental well-being of our Team & Family.

This month, we recognize the importance of supporting one another, starting conversations, and making sure our families know where to turn when help is needed. In honor of World Suicide Prevention Day, students are also invited to wear teal and purple accessories on Thursday, September 10th to help raise awareness and show support. Students should still wear their regular uniform polo and approved uniform bottoms.

Uniform Policy Reminder Uniform Policy Reminder

As we settle into the new school year, we want to remind families of our campus uniform expectations and highlight an important update: black jeans are NOT permitted Monday–Thursday. Students should wear approved bottoms made of dress pant/slacks-style fabric during the regular school week.

These expectations align with district policy and help us maintain a strong, consistent student culture across campus while keeping the focus on learning.

Please help your Tiger arrive in full uniform each day. If a student comes to school out of uniform, families will be contacted and asked to bring an appropriate change of clothes.

Thank you for your partnership in helping us start each day ready, professional, and proud! 🐯

🌟What is PBIS Rewards & How Can Parents Get Connected?🌟

This year, our campus will continue to use PBIS Rewards to build a positive school culture by recognizing students for meeting behavior expectations. Students earn points they can use for rewards, privileges, or events.

This year we have added the Behavior Referral System to help track behavior consistently and ensure students receive the right support when needed.

📲 Stay connected!

· Parents can download the PBIS Rewards Parent App to:

o See your child’s points and behavior updates

o Receive school messages and PBIS Rewards celebrations

School Safety School Safety

Dear IDEA McAllen Parents,

In Texas, it is mandatory to report any threats or suspicious activities that could impact school safety. Reporting such concerns is crucial for maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment for everyone. If a student has concerns, they should speak directly with a teacher or administrator. Staff members are aware to report directly to a Campus Crisis Team (CCT) member. For anonymous reporting, use Texas' designated tip line, iWatchTexas, which allows you to report threats or suspicious activities anonymously. Note that iWatchTexas is not for emergencies—students should report emergencies directly to an adult or call 911.

Suspicious activities include unfamiliar individuals trying to enter the building, concerning social media posts, or possession of weapons. A threat can involve violence, fear, disruption, or an attempt to provoke an emergency response. Remember, your vigilance and prompt reporting help ensure our school remains a safe place for all..

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

Sincerely,
IDEA McAllen Administration
