March Newsletter - Boletín de marzo
Dear Spring Lake Families,
Happy March! It’s hard to believe how quickly the school year is moving, and we are so proud of the growth we continue to see in our students each day. Spring brings new energy, new learning, and many opportunities to partner together.
Family‑Teacher Conferences are coming up on March 11–12. These meetings are an important time to celebrate your child’s progress and plan for the months ahead. If you still need an appointment with your child’s teacher, please contact our school office—we are happy to help get you scheduled.
As we continue working toward our district’s Moonshot goal of all students reading on grade level by 2030, I want to share a simple nightly reading routine that supports children ages 0–10, regardless of the language:
⭐ A Simple 10–15 Minute Nightly Reading Routine
1. Look Together (2–3 minutes):
Flip through the book. Look at pictures, talk about characters, and make predictions. This works even if an adult isn’t reading the text aloud.
2. Listen or Read (5–7 minutes):
Choose one of the following that fits your family:
- An adult reads aloud.
- A child reads to the adult.
- Both look at the book while listening to an audiobook or book‑read video.
- Older siblings read to younger ones.
3. Talk About It (3–5 minutes):
Ask simple questions like:
- “What was your favorite part?”
- “What surprised you?”
- “What do you think will happen next?”
These conversations help build vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence—no matter who is doing the reading.
Thank you for all the ways you support your child’s learning at home. Together, we are building strong readers and a strong future for every student.
Warmly,
Katy Cattlett

Estimadas familias de Spring Lake:
¡Feliz marzo!
Sra. Cattlett
