Beadle Lake Families,

Happy November! As the leaves turn color and the air gets crisp, our classrooms are filled with vibrant learning and warm energy. November is a special month because it gives us a dedicated time to focus on gratitude, kindness, and community.

We are so grateful for our wonderfully supportive families, dedicated teachers, and, most of all, our amazing DK through 4th-grade students who bring joy to our halls every single day. Thank you for partnering with us to make Beadle Lake a great place to grow!

November Gratitude Challenge

This month, we will do a schoolwide gratitude challenge. I encourage you to try something fun at home with your kids that reflects joy and gratitude.

At Home Idea:

  • Ask your child at dinner each night: "What is one thing that made you smile at school today?"

  • Gratitude Jar: Keep a jar and slips of paper on the kitchen counter. Family members drop in notes or pictures about appreciation, acts of kindness, or favorite moments throughout the month, then read them all aloud daily, weekly or on Thanksgiving break.

  • Thank-You Notes: Have students write or draw a short note expressing appreciation to a family member, teacher, neighbor, or community helper (like a firefighter or mail carrier).

  • Gratitude Scavenger Hunt: Give kids a checklist to find items around the house that bring them joy or comfort (e.g., find something soft, something that makes you laugh, or something someone made for you).

Cold Weather Reminder

The temperature is dropping fast! Please make sure your child comes to school each day with:

  • A warm coa

  • Gloves/Mittens

  • Hat

  • Boots (when snow arrives)

*Please label all jackets and hats with your child’s name so lost items can easily find their way home!

Kindness Corner & Principal’s November Book of the Month

  • Kindness Tip: Practice saying "thank you" to three different people every day.

  • November Book Recommendations: The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, Bear Says Thanks by Karma Wilson, The Thankful Book by Todd Parr, The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Polacco, Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Pena, Thank You Omu by Oge Mora, Under the Lemon Moon by Rene King Moreno

Parents & Guardians,

Please remember to drop off and pick up your student(s) in the designated drop-off/pick-up line located in the Yellow/Green Lot.

🚌 Please help us keep the Bus Loop (located in front of the building) clear from 8:30–9:00 AM and 3:30 -4:00 PM.

During this time, our buses need access to the bus loop to safely drop off and pick up students. Using the designated drop-off line helps keep traffic moving and, most importantly, keeps all of our students safe.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us make morning arrival and afternoon dismissal safe, smooth, and stress-free for everyone! 💙

We appreciate our amazing school families!

Partnering with families to help our Beadle Lake students thrive!

Ask Your Student!

Students have been learning about conflict resolution and problem solving. Keep the conversation going at home by asking:

  • “How can you calm down before solving a problem?”
  • “How can you share your feelings respectfully?”
  • “What could a fair solution look like?”
  • “When should you ask an adult for help?”

  • "What does a sincere apology sound like?"

Read A Long Books used in the lesson-

    2 - Squabbled

3- Enemy Pie

4-The Beaver and Otter Get Along.. Sort of

Share how you work through disagreements, too. Everyday moments are opportunities to practice!

Small Groups, Growing Skills

My small groups will cover skills for learning, empathy, emotion management, and problem solving. Students in small groups will practice these skills through activities, discussions, and time together.

These are skill-building groups, not therapy groups. Therapeutic support is also available here at BLE. Please contact me if you would like more information.

Handle With Care

Is your student struggling or experiencing a change that we can help support? Please call or send a “HWC—Handle With Care” message through Bloomz. You only need to share what you feel comfortable sharing; a brief heads-up helps us offer extra care.

You are your student’s best advocate and the expert on your child. We can partner by providing a quiet place to rest, an extra snack, opportunities to regulate their bodies, and a kind, listening ear.

We use HALT—Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired—as a reminder to check for needs that may affect a student’s readiness to learn.

Coming Soon: Kindness Corner!

We are creating a Kindness Corner for BLE families, stocked with free items to take as needed. More information is coming about accessing this resource and donating items. Together, we can care for our school community!

Hey BLE Families & Loved Ones,

Happy New Ways November! This link will take you to the monthly calendar to have at home. At school we're going to intentionally model being flexible in our thinking, going out of our comfort zones to try new things, and at home it would be fun to make a list of new foods to try together, or new hobbies! As always, thanks for supporting your child's learning not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Here is the link to our family PBIS handbook with resources for you to reference and use at home 🙂

What’s Happening in Spanish? What’s Happening in Spanish?

¡Hola, familias!

In Spanish class, we are learning through storytelling, music, movement, and interactive activities!

  • DK & Kindergarten are practicing colors, numbers, and Spanish vowels through songs, games, and movement.

  • 1st & 4th graders are developing their Spanish comprehension and communication skills through TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling), creating and interacting with stories in Spanish.

  • 2nd & 3rd graders are traveling through Spanish-speaking countries using their Spanish Passports to explore geography, cultures, and traditions!

Our goal is to make language learning fun, meaningful, and engaging for everyone!

🌎 Cultural Awareness Project

Did you know Harper Creek has its own Cultural Awareness Project? This initiative brings professional multicultural performances to our students, connecting language, music, and culture while celebrating diversity.

We encourage families to explore our website to learn about past performances, upcoming events, and the community partnerships that make these experiences possible!

🎵 What’s Happening in Integrated Arts? 🎨 🎵 What’s Happening in Integrated Arts? 🎨

First off, what really IS Integrated Arts? In our classroom, we study music, dance, theater, AND visual arts! We love to make connections between different art disciplines here, and we are constantly striving to provide rich and diverse arts experiences for all of our students. Our goal is always to help students appreciate and love the arts throughout their lives, no matter how that appreciation looks or changes as they grow!

This month in Integrated Arts, we have been fully embracing the spooky fall season with lots of activities about monsters, ghosts, spiders, bats, leaves, and more! We are working on a variety of artistic skills such as singing voice, steady beat, body awareness, mirroring movement, pantomiming (acting without sound), improvisation, and artistic craftsmanship.

Donations: Thank you so much to everyone who donated supplies at the start of the year! We are so lucky to have so much support here at Beadle Lake.

Save the Date: Our annual showcase at Beadle Lake is going to be held on Thursday, March 18th! This is a time to celebrate our artistry and hard work with all of our students, families, and community members. At Beadle Lake, this performance includes elements of music, theater, and dance while the art gallery features our visual art for all of our students in the hallways. This year’s theme is Tell Me a Story. More details to come!

🏃🏻‍♀️A NOTE FROM PE! 🏃 🏃🏻‍♀️A NOTE FROM PE! 🏃

Our gym has been busy, and I wanted to take a minute to share a reminder with our families : PE is about SO much more than playing games! 💙🤍Each week, our students are working on movement skills, teamwork, cooperation, following directions, sportsmanship, and building healthy habits that they can use both in and out of school. One of my favorite things to hear is when students tell me they went home and practiced something we did in PE! 👏

🏠 TRY IT AT HOME:
Challenge your family to a 10-minute movement break this week! Take a walk, have a family dance party, shoot some hoops, practice throwing and catching, or simply get outside and move together.

It doesn't have to be complicated—movement is movement! ❤️

Thank you for supporting our students and helping me teach them that being active can be FUN!

Oct/Nov 2026

It’s that time of year when the sun goes down early and our evenings are longer. Playing outside is sadly decreasing. How can we have fun inside and still practice reading and math? Playing games!

There are so many board games and card games that we can play with our kids to build in family time and learning time. I want to share some ideas on how to connect with your kids while building their academics. Board games can help teach kids how to take turns, follow game rules, and learn to handle themselves when the game doesn’t go their way. Teaching kids that playing games is not about winning and losing as much as it’s about having fun and spending time together is so important. Great games that have maintained longevity are Sorry, Sequence, Parcheesi, Trouble, and Scrabble. For math, fun games include Yantzee, Tenzi, and card games like War. If you need more ideas, please reach out to me! Happy Gaming Friends!!!

Each afternoon, we have built time into our daily schedules to have Math Work Places. These work places are games the students play to help develop and increase their skills in counting, number recognition, addition and subtraction, multiplication and place value. Ask your child what they are currently playing. If you would like a copy of a game to play at home, please reach out.

Lastly, if your child works in a small group with Mrs. Hagen or me on math and/or reading skills, those Intervention Progress Reports will come home next Thursday. If you have questions about the services, my phone number is 441-3277.

Happy Reading!

Mrs. Duval
