Welcome Back! Welcome Back!

On behalf of our Title I program, welcome back Title I families! We hope the 2024-2025 school year is off to a great start. As we begin a new school year, we challenge each of you to commit to engaging more fully in your child's education. Parent involvement has changed over the years. It is no longer just sending in treats for the bake sale or volunteering at the book fair. While those things are very important to helping our schools, we also know that when parents work with their child at home academic achievement improves. Engagement is going deeper than asking how their day went. In Title I we firmly believe that you are your child's first teacher and though it may seem daunting to tackle some of our state's challenging standards, we are here to help! Each Title I school in Catoosa County employs a full or part-time Title I Parent Involvement Coordinator (PIC). These ladies are passionate in their efforts to bridge the gap between home and school. They are available to help you in many ways and have resources to help with learning at home. Please make a plan to reach out to your school's PIC and take part in the Title I events and meetings held at your school this year.

Easy Ways to Get More Involved

Studies have repeatedly shown that students are more successful when their parents are supportive, and involved in their education. How to make this happen is often more difficult than it sounds. One of the benefits of being a Title I school is to help parents overcome these challenges. The tips below outline a few ways in which you can deepen your engagement.

  • Volunteer at your child's school
  • Attend school events
  • Communicate with your child's teacher regularly
  • Request a parent-teach conference
  • Join your school's Parent Teacher organization
  • Read with your child or help with homework

Contact your school's PIC to for assistance or to ask questions about how you can become a volunteer!
