💚 THANK YOU, PTA + OAK FAMILIES 💚
From the bottom of our very full hearts, thank you to our incredible PTA (seriously, there is no other like it!) and to all of our families for making Staff Appreciation Week so special. We are thankful to do what we do in such a thoughtful, supportive community. Thank you for every note, small gift, flower, smile, thumbs up, piece of chocolate, and extra container of Lysol wipes. 😛
We appreciate all of it!
🌎 BETTER WORLD WEEK: NEXT WEEK! 🌎
Next week, April 27 – May 1, Oakhurst will be celebrating EL Education’s Better World Week!
This year, our school is focusing on the theme "Leave No Trace." Our student-led "Leave No Trace" Team will be teaching us that even small hands can do big things to take care of our school and our planet.
Throughout the week, students will be focusing on:
Classrooms & Hallways: Keeping supplies tidy and hallway walls clean.
The Great Outdoors: Ensuring all playground equipment comes back inside and keeping our green spaces free of litter.
Common Spaces: Taking pride in our cafeteria and bathrooms by clearing messes and ensuring trash finds the bin.
To wrap it all up, every student will have the opportunity to sign our "Leave No Trace" Oakhurst banners as a pledge to keep our school a tidy, beautiful place to learn.
We are so excited to see our young superheroes in action as they work together to leave the world better than they found it! Ask your student to tell you about the chant!
🤩 OAKFEST FIELD DAY 🤩
Move over, Field Day—OAKFEST is moving in! 🌳🎸
We’ve leveled up our annual outdoor field day into a full-blown festival of fun, laughter, and high-energy vibes. To kick things off in style, Coach Kenner and Ms. D teamed up with our 2nd-grade creative geniuses to design the first-ever official OAKFEST tee.
Huge shoutout to our winning designer: June L. from 2nd Grade! June’s artwork perfectly captured the spirit of OAKFEST, and we can’t wait to see it come to life on May 8th (stay tuned for details from Coach K!)
A huge thank you to those who signed up to volunteer for Field Day! We couldn't pull this off without your help. I’ll be sending out specific station assignments and a quick schedule later this week. Can’t wait to see you on the field!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Food Insecurity Request Form
Oakhurst families, please complete and submit this food insecurity request form if your student is experiencing food insecurity within the home and is in need of some supplemental weekend snacks.
The Decatur Education Foundation supplies Oakhurst with snack bags for any student in need. This request form will go directly to our school counselor, Ms. King, and she will send home a snack bag with your student every Friday. Please go through each week's snack bag to remove any snack you may not want your child to have due to allergy concerns, etc.
