Principal Message
Happy Thursday! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended conferences and the Washington Book Fair. It's always a pleasure to be able to connect with parents, set goals with students for the remainder of the year, and celebrate successes! Please enjoy a well-deserved Spring Break! A few items to note:
~ Spring Break is upon us! Please enjoy the next week away, recharging and refreshing for the final push of the year. We'll see you all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on Monday, April 1 (No Fooling!).
~ Upcoming Music Concert: This is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24. We will perform the same concert three times--at 8:30, 10:00, and 1:00. Please try your best to attend one concert based on the letter in your last name. Details below in the flyer.
~ Smart Watches/Gizmos: We continue to occasionally have students who are using Smart watches/Gizmos/etc. during the school day, so we are moving closer to potentially banning these during the school day. Students could still have them, but they would need to be off and in backpacks, just like we ask students to do with phones should they opt to bring them to school. As a gentle reminder, students should NOT be doing anything on their watch during ANY PART of the school day. Should they need to communicate with a parent, they should talk with their teacher and their teacher will help to support this happening from a school phone. They should not be texting or playing games or taking videos or anything else. This is becoming more common, so please visit with your child(ren) about this so that we can notice improvement and not have to make a change to our practice.
~ Lice: Not a fun topic, I know! Trust me, I have lived through this as a parent, and it's a monumental challenge! It seems to be a bit of a growing concern here at Washignton. Please remind your children that hats, scrunchies, headbands, and combs/brushes should never be shared! Please be aware that "selfies" are also a way that lice can be transmitted. Making families aware of this growing concern may help to eliminate the spread.
As always, thank you for your support--it matters!

Kindergarten Connection (formerly K Round Up)
Hello to all future Washington Wildcats and welcome to Washington Elementary.
Mark your calendar to join us for Kindergarten Connection on Thursday, April 18th. We will be hosting a Kindergarten Open House from 5:30-7:00. Bring your incoming Kindergarten student to meet the teachers, see our space, get your questions answered, and more! While this is an Open House and you can come and go as it fits your schedule, we will hold a short informational session for parents from 6:00-6:20, so please keep that in mind as you plan your visit.
This exciting event is exclusively for Washington caregivers and your incoming Kindergartener! We cannot wait to meet our new Wildcats!
See you in April!
