A message from our principal/Un mensaje de su directora

Dear Wright Community,

Saludos WE families! Happy Hispanic Heritage month! Monday, September 15 marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month for 2025. Why? Because on this day, in the year 1821, many Latin American countries declared their independence from Spain as a result of the Spanish American War, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico declared independence on September 16, followed by Chile on September 18. These feats, as well as the contributions of Hispanic-Americans to the progress and prosperity of the U.S, were first commemorated as a week-long celebration instituted in 1968 by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Although there was a trajectory of efforts, amongst a variety of U.S. representatives, senators, congressmen and presidents, it was officially in 1988, during the George H.W. Bush administration, that the commemoration of Hispanic influence in our country became a month long observance. Historically speaking, it is important to note that there are other Latin American countries that gained independence from Spain earlier than 1821, encompassing the years 1810, 1811 and 1816, and including the countries of Columbia, Chile, Paraguay, Venezuela and Argentina. It is with great pride and joy that we welcome and honor the celebration of this month within our Wright community.

Go Little Indians!

Looking Back/Reflejos Looking Back/Reflejos

We had an eventful week this past week! Learning and engagement is happening throughout our classrooms. From Open House to our Grandparents’ Day celebrations, we had a great time in fellowship with YOU, our amazing school community. Thank you so much for joining us in fellowship. Not to mention coming together as a campus and surrounding school community, with the support of our amazing HISD PD, to conduct our revised dismissal on Huff street. It's so encouraging to reflect on what we’re capable of doing when we come together. Take a moment to enjoy a few highlights!

Dismissal Procedures/Procedimientos para la salida

Remember to please be sure to display your car tag visibly in your windshield, so that staff in the car line can easily identify your child's name, and expedite their retrieval from inside the school. We want to keep that carline moving and get everyone home as safely and as soon as possible. If you do not have your car tag, you will have to park, and come into the school, and provide identification to sign your child out for dismissal.
