Carver Parents/Guardians,

I want to take a moment to thank our PTO, parent volunteers, and all who supported our Fall Festival Parade. Because of our incredible volunteers, every student who needed a costume received one, and they were so appreciative of the kindness shown to them. Thank you as well to our PTO for helping ensure that last Thursday's Fall Festival was such a huge success!

Quarter 2 Interims are almost here!

Families of students in grades 5K–12 will receive interims electronically on Wednesday, November 11 at the parent/guardian email address provided during registration.

When you receive the email and click Download, please allow approximately 15 seconds for the document to fully download. Navigating away from the page before the download is complete may cause it to stop.

If you do not receive your child’s interim or your email address has changed since registration, please visit your child’s school with a valid photo ID for assistance.

Did you know you can monitor your student’s academic status in real time? Learn more about the PowerSchool Parent Portal app at f1s.org/powerschool.

Students are expected to read their Accelerated Reader (AR) books for 20 minutes each evening, and we ask parents to please sign their reading logs daily. During the school day, students receive additional support to reinforce classroom instruction through several digital learning programs: Lexia (Reading), IXL (Math & Reading), Magma Math (Math), and Reflex Math (Math). Students have ample time during the day to meet all requirements for each program. As we continue to move into the second quarter, thank you for partnering with us to encourage your child to stay focused and engaged in their learning!

Carver is a great place to learn and work! Have a wonderful week.

Free Tutoring through SC Discus! Free Tutoring through SC Discus!

If your child needs academic support, the South Carolina State Library (via SC Discus) offers free virtual tutoring to all South Carolina residents.

Students and parents can access this service through the SC Discus app inside your child's ClassLink account. From there, scroll down and select Tutor.com. Students can connect with live online tutors in real time or use the "drop-off" feature for feedback on essays and assignments.

While in-person help is wonderful, this is a fantastic, accessible alternative for our families. Best of all, sessions are recorded, providing an extra layer of safety and peace of mind for parents across all grade levels.

American Education Week American Education Week

Carver will celebrate American Education Week from November 16–20, 2026.

American Education Week (AEW) is a week-long celebration of public education held the week before Thanksgiving. It recognizes the dedication of educators, support staff, and professionals, honors students' determination to learn, and seeks to build public support for education.

We are also looking for veterans and community members to read aloud to classes on Friday, November 20, in conjunction with Veterans Day. Parents are welcome to sign up to read to students on Friday, November 20.

Mrs. Watts' Class had a SPOOKTACULAR time!

Our 5th graders had a SPOOKTACULAR time with our pumpkin experiment!

Learning came to life as students enjoyed a hands-on, spooky-themed science experience where they mixed acids and bases, observed chemical reactions, and explored how gases are produced!

Throughout the experiment, students put the 4 C’s into action: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication as they made observations, asked questions, worked together, and explored the science behind the fun!

Who says learning can’t be a little spooky?

A HUGE thank-you to Dr. Lindsey Simmons from Francis Marion University for joining Mrs. Watts’s class and spending a frighteningly fun time with us! We are so grateful you took the time to make science even more exciting for our students!

Carver Elementary is proud to be a Title I school.

Title I is a federally funded program designed to ensure that all children have a fair and equal opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. This support allows us to provide additional academic resources, small group instruction, and increased opportunities for family involvement—all aimed at helping every student succeed.

This week, we are sharing important Title I documents with our families:

  • Title I Family-School Compact

  • Family Engagement Policies

  • Parents’ Right to Know

These documents explain how we will work together—school staff, families, and students—to support your child’s learning and academic growth.

You will find PDF versions of these documents included in this week’s newsletter. Hard copies have also been sent home in Tuesday Folders for your convenience.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our Title I program, please feel free to contact us. We value your partnership!
