Before-School Care Changes for the 2026-2027 School Year

To better support our families while maintaining a safe, calm, and structured start to each school day, Midtown Community School is making several changes to our Before-School Care program.

Beginning this school year, Before-School Care will be available from 7:15–7:50 a.m. for students who are pre-registered. Families who wish to participate must complete the registration form below.

Students attending Before-School Care will have the opportunity to enjoy breakfast with their peers and work on homework in a supervised, quiet environment before the instructional day begins.

Please note the following expectations for participation:

  • Before-School Care is available only to pre-registered students.

  • Enrollment is limited to 50 students.

  • Students must arrive between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m.

  • Students arriving after 7:30 a.m. will not be admitted to Before-School Care and should follow the school's regular arrival procedures.

  • To ensure a safe and positive environment for all students, any student who receives more than two behavior referrals during Before-School Care will no longer be eligible to participate in the program.

These changes are necessary due to updates within our building and our ongoing commitment to student safety. We appreciate your partnership as we work to provide a welcoming, organized, and secure start to each school day for all students. Please complete the registration below for your family.

Check Your Parent Portal Information

As we begin a new school year, please log into your Parent Portal and check the following settings:

  • Emergency Contacts: click on "More", then click on "Demographics". Make sure your "Non-Household Relationships" are your emergency contacts and those individuals who may need to pick up your child from school. Parents, guardians, and emergency contacts will be added to the new dismissal system that we will begin using soon.
  • Address Information: click on "More", then click on "Address Information". If the address listed is not your current address, please email Jamesetta Mills with your new address and one new proof of residency from within the last 30 days. This will ensure you receive progress reports when they are sent home in USPS mail.
  • Notification Settings: click on the person icon in the top right, then click on "Settings" and "Contact Preferences". Make sure all phone and email boxes are checked so that you receive communication about newsletters, school closings, teacher emails, and other important info.

If you have any problems logging into your Parent Portal or other questions, please reach out to our Technology Coordinator, Tisha Kidd.
