Announcements

Happy Friday!

Another awesome week in the books! Students learned all about the wind and made an anemometer! Coaches from Sheridan Shores Sailing come into our class and taught us about how to measure the wind speed.

Max was the Star Student this week. He brought in a cool Cowboys helmet as his mystery item and I read Who's on First?" It is such a fun book!

October's Choice Board went home this week. Completed homework can be returned October 31. Please reach out if you need another Choice Board.

Please remind your child to leave personal possessions at home. We are seeing an increase in stuffies and squishes and we do not want them to get lost or damaged at school. Also, students are not allowed to have chewing gum at school.

Please consider making a donation to our class store!

Charlotee K. is our next Star Student!

Max is our Star Student for next week!

Reading

This week, we continued with Unit 2: Focus on Making Connections: Fiction. Students listened to and discussed The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig to build comprehension and develop an enjoyment of reading. Students made text-to-text connections with The Three Little Pigs. We also discussed the central message of the folk tales. Students wrote how the two books were alike and different.

Writing

This week, students were encouraged to add more to their writing. We revisited Shelia Rae the Brave and talked about what made her character funny. Students wrote about a made-up character and included funny details. Students read aloud their stories today in the Author's Chair. We also learned about subject, predicate, and apostrophes.
