Two Weeks To Go! Two Weeks To Go!

The first day of school for students is Monday, August 31 -- a half day, with dismissal at 11:26am. Just a few reminders:

  • The warning bell rings daily at 7:54am, and the bell to begin first period rings at 8:00am, which is when students are expected to be in their first period class.
  • On the first day of school, students will be provided with an updated class schedule in their first period class. In the main lobby, we will post a list of student names with their first period room number, so that students will know where to go.
  • Wondering what students should bring to the first day? What supplies will students need for their classes? At the middle and high school level, we recommend that students come with a simple notebook and writing utensil(s) on the first day. At each class, teachers will distribute class syllabi that include materials students should have for that particular class. We are always here to help if any students and families need assistance with school supplies!

As usual, we will provide all students in grades 7-10 with a planner for their use during the year, to record homework and other items.

Students in grades 11 and 12 can ask for a planner on a first-come, first-served basis while we have them in stock.

Student Drop-Off Student Drop-Off

Student drop-off before 8:00am is in the student parking lot. This creates the safest traffic patterns for everyone. Please see the diagram below -- enter the parking lot through one of the south entrances (RED ARROW) and move up the tennis court side of the lot to the auditorium entrance (YELLOW ARROW). Drop off occurs here. Then, travel across the staff parking lot (BLUE ARROW) to exit the campus.

For pick-up after the school day, please park in the student parking lot.

As mentioned in the summer newsletter, students and/or parents/guardians can stop by the school to sign out their Chromebook for the year on Friday, August 21 from 10:00am - 2:00pm in the library. Please bring the form that was mailed home in early August; if you need a new form, contact the office. Remember - on the form you must either waive the insurance policy, or provide the $30 insurance fee when you pick up the Chromebook. Please contact Principal Brighenti if the insurance fee is a hardship for your family. If families are not able to pick up the Chromebook on August 21, students can do so once school begins in the library, though there will likely be wait lines then.

New this year -- the opportunity for students to get lunch before leaving on half days! Students can stop by the cafeteria for a quick lunch before leaving on half days. We have built this time into our half day bell schedule. Note that this lunch is optional; students who don't want school lunch on half days may leave at 11:11 when the last class ends. Buses will not depart until after the 11:26 dismissal time.

Breakfast and lunch remains at no charge to all students this school year! Breakfast is served both before school (starting at 7:30am) and during Flex between periods 2 and 3 -- but each student only gets one free breakfast.

Extra food and snacks can be purchased at the register. Students must have cash, or must have funds on their lunch account. For information on how to add funds using MySchoolBucks online, see the Food Service web site.

All fall sports begin on Monday, August 24. First practices will be:

  • Girls soccer - 9:00am to 11:00am
  • Golf - 1:00pm @ Greenock Country Club
  • Cross Country - 3:30pm
  • Volleyball - 1:00pm - 2:30pm for grades 7-9
    - 2:30pm - 4:00pm for grades 10-12
  • Football - 4:30pm (do not arrive before this time) at the picnic tables behind the cafeteria

All student-athletes and at least one parent/guardian are expected to attend the fall sports information night at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 20 in the LMHS Auditorium. This will be an opportunity to hear about important athletics policies, and also a time for student-athletes and parents/guardians to meet with coaches.

IMPORTANT: In order to participate in practices, students must have a form on file with the school from a doctor showing that the student is cleared for physical activity and has had a physical examination in the last 13 months (July 24, 2025). For those students who signed up to play a sport, Athletic Director Thomson has emailed them if they do not have medical clearance on file.

Students who have NOT previously signed up for a team can still attend the first practice, but they must have the medical documentation as noted above.

Cross Country would love more runners! No previous experience necessary.

Please contact Athletic Director Thomson with any questions -- kmthomson@leepublicschools.net

Bus Safety Bus Safety

Recently it has become an issue just about everywhere that some cars are not stopping for school buses when they have their flashing lights on. Please know that all traffic on both sides of the road must come to a stop when a school bus has its lights flashing! This is extremely important for student safety.
