A Note From Jen Damin
Kudos to our BCS Teachers for working your way through the first unit of LETRS. Unit 1 was filled with research about how the brain learns to read. Across the district, teachers have been engaged in discussions about teaching students how to read. PLC discussions included using the DIBELS 8 BOY data to drill down to specific foundational skills and planning specific strategies for whole group, small group and individualized instruction. Kudos to our Instructional Coaches and Administrators for supporting our teachers as well as protecting teachers' time for LETRS PD. Literacy is an important skill that increases a child's and adult's success in life. We want all of our students to be readers.
Thank you to all of our BCS Elementary Faculty and Staff for all you do to create a safe, welcoming learning environment for our students. Every person who works in our elementary schools has a very important job. I value and appreciate you for choosing to dedicate your life to helping others.
I encourage you to shout out to each other to show your support for your elementary colleagues.
