The Beauty of Rochester
Dear RMS Families,
What an eventful week at RMS with 6th graders participating in the Nature on Wheels, Harvest Week, the kindergarten walking field trip, parent-teacher conferences and a full moon! Our 6th grade students engaged in the great outdoors building on teamwork strategies, learning about their environment, testing the PH in water and exploring mother nature, plus so much more. Thank you to our 6th grade team for organizing this wonderful experience for our students. Everyone had so much fun together.
This past week, our kindergarten students also took a walk to the local cranberry bog to learn about their community jobs and the environment too. The third graders will continue their work in our school garden and learning about growing local food and the benefits of gardening thanks to the Marion Institute.
Students and staff also enjoyed our school spirit Harvest Week. We think pajama day by far is the favorite from students and staff alike. The character book costumes were so creative and we hope everyone has a safe Halloween on Saturday.
In addition, Mr. Vanderquist met with students on Wednesday to review our CARES acronym with a focus on "Responsibility." He led a great discussion on bus expectations and checked in with each bus at the end of the day on Thursday.
Please remember there will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 3rd and as educators, we will be participating in professional development opportunities across the tri-town. We look forward to a great start to November at RMS.
Sincerely,
Principal Letendre & Assistant Principal Vanderquist
Thank You Volunteers!
The Annual Spook-tacular Event sponsored by our PTO was a huge success! This family friendly event is always so much fun at Rochester Memorial School. It is so wonderful to see our school community, PTO and RMS families come together on a beautiful fall afternoon. There were so many great costumes and activities planned. We had food trucks, a scavenger hunt, popcorn by Mr. Paul, face painting, rock painting, the GaGa Pit game, music and of course trick or treating!
We can't thank our wonderful PTO and all the volunteers enough to help make this annual event a success for all.
