Dear Huskie Community,

Hope you enjoyed the extended fall weekend. There is a lot of information below for your review. Please check it out.

I am re-running this invitation from last week. You are invited to attend our NNHS Core Chat on October 21 at 7PM. Some additional information is below including the prompts that will guide the small group conversations. Each school in the district will be hosting unique Core Chat events where the district will be gathering input from community members to inform the district Forward Together 2032 Plan. We anticipate the meeting will conclude before 8PM.

Make it a great week! Go Huskies!!

Sincerely,

Jay Wachtel

NNHS CORE CHAT INFORMATION

When: 7PM on Wednesday, October 21

Where: NNHS Large Cafeteria

Purpose: We are gathered to listen and learn from your unique experiences to co-create the Forward Together 2032 plan. Your input is highly valued as we shape the future of Naperville 203. An independent third party, Innovate K12, will analyze all qualitative data collected across the district. They will synthesize these findings to generate the "What We Heard" reports, which will be published publicly on our website.

Non-Purpose: We are not here to debate specific district policies or review pre-made plans. This is a dedicated space for open, constructive dialogue to better understand community aspirations and needs.

Prompt 1: Picture a 2032 graduate who is truly thriving out in the world. What does the Naperville 203 school environment need to look like to make sure our schools are delivering those specific skills and experiences? What should we stop doing to make room for it?

Prompt 2: Trust is built or broken in the micro-moments. Think about a time when you or someone you know felt a disconnect or a breakdown in trust with the district or a school. Without naming names, what exactly went wrong in that interaction, and how could it have been handled differently to preserve the relationship?

Prompt 3: Sometimes, what we want to preserve (like academic success or traditional programming) directly clashes with what we need to evolve (like student mental health, balance, and new pathways). When our community's desire for tradition collides with our need for future innovation, how should Naperville 203 navigate that tension?

APPTEGY ROOMS

For families and students to stay informed, Naperville 203 has integrated a two-way messaging app powered by Apptegy. Your student wil be able to communicate with their teacher, coach, or club sponsor in one secure place. HERE is a guide to for your student on how to set it up.

2026-2027 NEF EXPRESS GRANT RECIPIENT - PODCASTING ENGLISH 3 at NNHS

Podcasting English 3: This grant modernizes the 11th-grade English curriculum by introducing an Audio Production Lab & Podcast Series. Instead of traditional essay assignments, students will turn their coursework into professionally created podcast episodes. The focus is on core themes of identity, barrier-breaking, and community action.

Using professional audio microphones, Chromebooks, and digital editing software, students will analyze complex texts, debate real-world issues, and hone their communication skills for an authentic peer audience. By recording their own voices, students are empowered to self-correct their writing, master rhetorical strategies, and build confidence.

Overall, this hands-on project boosts engagement, bridges academic writing with real-world application, and develops essential critical thinking, adaptability, and civic voice in every learner.
