Principal Message Principal Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The calendar says spring has sprung, but the ice on the playground disagrees. As temperatures are expected to increase over the weekend and into next week please make sure you students have appropriate outerwear for the conditions, and dry cloths for when they get wet. On that note if you have any small pants those sized for a k-3 student that you would like to donate please send with your child or drop off at the office. We use these for when students need some spare cloths but are running low on pants currently.

Monday started the first day of our automated safe arrival program, there is more info below. We also had Archery practice after school. Next week our Archery team travels to Edmonton to compete in NASP provincials.

This past Monday our classes recognized St. Patrick's day, and some of our students went all out on their outfits.

Tuesday, we had green pancake breakfast put on by our School Council Parent Volunteers, Thank you.

Friday, Miss Weninger and Mrs. Swinkles coached our Archery team and NASP Provincial in Edmonton. Also report cards were posted to the parent portal. Online was primary way of sharing these report cards, however if you would like a paper copy please contact your student's homeroom teacher or the office.

In other news, Chimes club will not be running this term at lunch due to lack of student interest, we will restart in the fall to prepare for next year's Christmas Concert.

Next week is a short 3 day week and then off for spring break. Tuesday we have fluoride application for those who have signed up. We also have our monthly Picnic in the Gym organized by BEST coach Mrs. Riggs. Parents are invited.

After spring break classes resume on April 7th. April 9th is Math Night from 4-5 pm. The first Bus to Swim in Thursday the 10th. And Friday is a PD day with no classes for students.

Bus to swim had a lot of interest from students this year. We were only able to take 40 students due to instructor/student ratios at the pool. Additional students are on the waitlist should spots open from those who are registered changing their mind or the pool be able to offer more spots. If you are already signed up and have not paid please do so either online or through the school office.

If you have any questions or concerns you can always reach out to the school through the office or email me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca.

Sincerely,

Alan Stoyles

Principal
