Edison Newsletter!

EdisonNewsletter!

Dear Edison family,

We had another exciting week at Edison Elementary! Our students, staff, and families continue to make our school a joyful place to learn and grow. Here are a few highlights we’d love to share with you:

  • Homecoming Parade – Edison was proud to be part of the community celebration with our very own float in the parade! Thank you to all who helped make it possible and came out to cheer us on.

  • Custodian Appreciation Day – This week we honored our amazing custodial staff; Carmen, Maria, Ana, and Christiana! They keep our school safe, clean, and welcoming. We are so grateful for their hard work and dedication every single day.

  • Pep Rally Fun – Our kindergarten and first grade students had a fantastic time attending the Gainesville High School Homecoming Pep Rally. It was such a wonderful way to connect with the big school spirit in our district!

  • Instructional Coaches Day – A huge thank you to our wonderful instructional coaches; Katy Pyle, Christina Phillips, and Tara Hackney! Their guidance, support, and commitment to high-quality teaching make a big difference in our classrooms and for our students’ success.

  • Join the PTO – Parents, we invite you to join our PTO! Your involvement helps support our students and staff through events, activities, and resources that make Edison even better.

  • 📦 Tasteful Temptations Fundraiser items will be ready for pick up on October 7th from 5:30-7pm in the cafeteria. Thank you again for supporting our school!
  • Order your Edison Spirit Shirt today and show your school pride!

Thank you, as always, for your partnership in your child’s education. Together, we are building a strong community and creating lasting memories.

Reoccurring reminders:

Traffic Reminder 🚗

To help keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently, please turn right when exiting the school during arrival and dismissal. This small change will help reduce congestion and ensure a smoother transition for all families. Thank you for your cooperation!

Also, when crossing the street or high traffic areas, please make sure to be crossed by a crossing guard at the cross walk, thank you.

Reading and Writing at home: We do a great deal of reading and writing at school. Parents/Guardians, if you could help us out by helping your kiddos with their home work, also reading to them, and having them write something short and age appropriate (pre-k: trace some letters, Kinder: write a few short words, 1st grade: write a short sentence), would go a long way.

Homework Reminder: I want to take this opportunity to encourage all parents to support their children with their homework. Your involvement in your child's education plays a crucial role in their academic success. By working together, we can ensure that our students are reaching their full potential.

Parental Involvement: Research consistently shows that students perform better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. I am proud to share that our school has seen a significant increase in parental engagement over the past year. Let's keep up this positive momentum as we work together to support our children's learning journey.

Summer School Update: I must inform you that there will not be summer school offered this year for attendance recovery. Therefore, it is imperative that your student attend school on time each and every day unless they are sick. If they are sick please leave a doctors note with the front office.

School policy: Parents, we will not allow early pick up of students after 3pm, including Doctors appointments, etc...

Transportation Changes: ALL Transportation changes must be made no later that 12pm. Any changes after that time cannot be made. Thank you,
