When students pick up their schedule, we are happy to address mistakes in the schedule (i.e missing a class needed for graduation, etc.). Our Counselors will be available. Please note that our master schedule is built based on student requests. Therefore, it is difficult to change a schedule because a student changes his/her mind about a class, they don’t have lunch with a friend, etc. .

First Day of School

The first day of school is August 15. Students will report to Advisory at the beginning of the day (8:40 a.m.). Our Advisors will build relationships with your student and help them get ready for an outstanding school year!

Bell Schedule

This year, school will begin and end at a different time. School will begin at 8:40 and end at 4:05. Our bell schedules are linked below.

Lunch Information

A reminder that HBHS is a closed campus. Students are not able to check in and out for the sole purpose of going to lunch (unless checked out by a parent). At Har-Ber, we have three lunches to help provide all students with adequate space in the cafeteria. We encourage students to either bring their own food or eat in the cafeteria. If a parent wishes to “drop off” lunch, it should be delivered to the front lobby. We are unable to personally “deliver” food to students. Rather, a student may come to the lobby and pick it up at the front table. This should be done in the event of an emergency since we cannot safeguard food that is delivered. Similarly, in the age of UberEats and other delivery methods, we cannot safeguard or deliver food that is left in the lobby. We encourage students to bring their own food and store it in their locker or eat from our school cafeteria.

Important Free/Reduced Lunch Information

Over the past two years, students have been able to eat free lunch and breakfast without the requirement to be approved for the discounted rate. This benefit was provided by the federal/state government, however it will not continue into the 2022-23 school year. The deadline to complete the application is September 26.

With that being said, it is important for families that are eligible for free/reduced meals to complete the short online application. It is linked below.

If you need assistance with the application, please contact our school. We are happy to help. Or, if you prefer a paper application, they are available in the office.

Attendance Policy

Students at Har-Ber High School are required to follow the attendance policy outlined by the Springdale School District. Please take a few minutes to review the attendance policy and to regularly check your student’s attendance into HAC. Students that have excessive absences will lose credit (even if passing a course). A summary of this policy is below.

Excessive Absences:

  • Nine (9) or more absences in a semester will be considered excessive.

  • Students who accumulate more than eight (8) absences in a class for the semester will not be eligible for credit in that class.

  • Denial of credit may affect promotion and/or graduation of the individual student.

The following classification of absences will not count toward the eight (8) day limit in which credit for the course or promotion will be denied.

  • Campus Activity: School sponsored field trips, assemblies, contests, or any other school activity as determined by the building principal.

  • Medical: Student absences due to the directive of the student’s medical doctor/dental appointments. Doctor/Dental appointments must indicate the day and time the student was seen in the doctor/dental office. Appropriate documentation from doctor/dental office

must be submitted to the attendance office.

  • Military: Student absences due to military deployment on leave from active duty of a parent or legal guardian.

  • Legal: Student absences due to court or legal appointments. Court/legal appointments must indicate the day and time the student was seen at court or at the attorney’s office. Appropriate documentation from the court/legal office must be submitted to the attendance office.

Parking Passes

Students that plan to drive to school will need to purchase a parking pass. The cost is $15. Students will need to provide a copy of the vehicle registration and driver’s license. The parking passes may be purchased when schedules are picked up. They may also be purchased through our online store. The link is below.

This year, we will utilize parking stickers that gently adhere to the windshield of the vehicle. If your student drives more than one vehicle, we will provide an additional pass for only $5. Please see Mrs. Fitzgerald if you need to purchase a second pass.

Honoring AP Excellence - Seniors

Beginning this year, HBHS will recognize seniors that have gone above and beyond to pursue a rigorous curriculum. At the 2023 Commencement Exercises, seniors that have completed 10 or more AP classes, in grades 9-12, will be given a special medallion to wear. Please visit with your student about his honor. If you wish to make an adjustment to your student’s schedule, please contact Ms. Robinson (margaret.robinson@sdale.org).

Saving Money for College

Beginning in September and continuing throughout the first semester, HBHS will hold “How to Pay for College Nights” and FAFSA Frenzy. These free, informative sessions are held in the HBHS Seminar Room. Details will be placed on social media and emailed to students and parents. Please take advantage of this opportunity.
