Battle of the Books! Battle of the Books!

Attention all readers! This yearโ€™s Battle of the Books is ready to launch! This is a fun competition where teams of students read 25 books and compete against other teams in a test of their book knowledge. There will be a school-wide competition in February, and the top three teams will advance to the District Battle.

The kick-off meeting is Friday, September 25, during CORE in the library. Sign up anytime before that by filling out a sheet in the IMC or across from room 196, or online in your ELA Google Classroom or Destiny. If you already have a team of three, great! If not, no worries...sign up anyway, and teams can be formed throughout the year. (There will be an individual sign-up sheet outside room 196.) There is no cost to join, and all books will be checked out through the school library. Monthly meetings take place during CORE. See Mrs. Simon in room 196 or Ms. Dโ€™Angelo in the library with any questions.

Want more info? Click here to visit the Battle of the Books, where you can find the book list, meeting dates, and a link to sign up your team electronically.

Volunteers Needed Volunteers Needed

There will no longer be a dedicated Volunteer Services Coordinator at each secondary school. These positions were moved to a centralized model to manage all volunteer needs.

Volunteers are still a very important part of our school community and we will continue to work to support volunteer needs in our buildings and process volunteer applications in accordance with district risk management procedures.

Take a minute and complete Coon Rapids MS Volunteer Application for this school year. Send a message to MSVolunteerServices@ahschools.us if you have general questions about volunteering or need assistance with the volunteer paperwork.

Student Immunizations Student Immunizations

Minnesota state law requires all students attending a Minnesota school to be immunized against certain diseases or meet one of the legal alternatives. Your student could need one or more vaccinations or a legal exemption to meet these requirements for continued school attendance. Be aware that all seventh grade students are required to have received a Tdap and the Meningococcal vaccine to enter 7th grade in addition to all other required vaccines for school. You may check your studentโ€™s immunization records in AH Connect. Please check with the CRMS health office at (763)506-4804 if you are unsure which immunizations your child may be lacking. Your student may be excluded from school if these requirements are not met.

Upcoming Testing Dates and Info Upcoming Testing Dates and Info

Parents/Guardians; CRMS will administer the FAST Test, and Capti Test in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. The FAST Test has two focus areas; reading and math (aReading & aMath). The Capti test is a reading assessment test. Your student will undergo FAST testing during the month of September in their respective classes (Math and ELA). The exact dates will be decided upon by the classroom teacher. Youโ€™ll likely receive correspondence from the classroom teacher via our messaging system. The Capti Test will take place in ELA classes and will be after MEA within the last two weeks of October (these exact dates are also decided by the classroom teacher). The FAST and Capti Tests will take 1-2 class periods, is electronic (chromebook/computer), and requires headphones that wire into the device (bluetooth/wireless headphones are not permitted). Please ensure your student brings a pair of wired headphones for the FAST Test and Capti Test this year. Additional messaging will be sent when we enter the Winter Testing Sessions.
