Principal's Perspectives
Don't forget that registration has opened for Session 2 of After School Enrichment! It closes on October 15th, so go to the Membership Toolkit on the PTO website for registration if you are interested!
Fall break is October 20th through October 24th, and if you are planning to leave for fall break a little early, please make sure to call the attendance line (317-867-7400, ext. 20001) or email Mrs. Stephens (stephenst@wws.k12.in.us) to let us know when you're leaving. We can take your attendance ahead of time, too, to make things easier for everyone.
I hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend!

Nurses Notes
Having good vision is very important to the success of a child's education. Indiana code IC 20-34-3-12 requires all public schools conduct a near and far vision acuity screening for all students in grades Kindergarten, third, fifth and eighth grade as well as students suspected of having difficulty seeing.
If your child already has glasses or contact lenses to help them see near or far, please help them remember to bring these to school. They will be screened with their corrective lenses. If your student needs additional vision testing, a note will be sent home.
This school year, KG and 3rd grade will be doing vision screenings during the month of October with the assistance of the Lion's Club and Norman & Miller of Westfield.

Dismissal Changes
The safety of the children is always our top priority and we am always looking for ways to improve our processes to make sure that everyone is safe. One of the areas that we have been reviewing is our pick-up and dismissal procedures, and this is where we need your help. Every time your child has a change in dismissal, we (the office) must be notified. You may do this by:
- Calling the office directly up until 1:30 PM each day. Please do not leave dismissal changes on the attendance line. If your child attends BAC, don't forget to notify them, too.
- Using Talking Points to text the office and your child's teacher.
- Sending a note to your child’s teacher and to the office with the dismissal changes.
- Emailing the office staff at:
We understand that during the day, schedules may change and life happens. In the event of a dismissal change after 9:00 AM, please call (317-867-7400) or email the office directly. Please DO NOT email or call your child’s teacher during the day with dismissal changes. The teachers are very busy and may not have the opportunity during the day to check voicemail or emails. Also, if there is a substitute teacher in the classroom, they WILL NOT have access to the teacher’s voicemail or email. We also ask that you DO NOT call after 1:30 PM with dismissal changes. We appreciate all of your help making sure that all of the children are safe.

Weekend Back Sacks
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are happy to announce that we will continue to offer food support again this year for families who can benefit from this assistance with the Back Sacks Program! Through this program, our goal is to help feed our kiddos on the weekends when school breakfast and lunch is not available. We are so thankful to Open Doors of Westfield and Merciful HELP in Carmel for helping make this happen.
At the end of each week, your child will receive a small sack of food in his or her backpack. The sack will have two small breakfast meals, two small lunch meals, as well as a couple of snacks and drinks. All foods are shelf-stable, which means they do not need to be refrigerated. Examples of items are cereal, granola bars, macaroni and cheese, spaghettios, dried fruit and crackers. The food is collected and distributed by Merciful HELP and Open Doors.
If you would like your child(ren) to participate in the Back Sacks program, please fill out this GOOGLE FORM.
If you have any questions please contact me at millerj@wws.k12.in.us
Thank you,
