REPORTING UPDATE REPORTING UPDATE

During 2025 and 2026 schools have been progressing with the implementation of the revised WA Curriculum. In accordance with the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) guidelines, we report student progress and achievement to parents and caregivers in a variety of ways:

  • Formally – Mid-year and end of year reports
  • Informally – through Seesaw, Parent Teacher correspondence, Learning Journey and meetings

As Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) schools refine and improve their practices in assessment and reporting, CEWA have made some changes to reports. On the mid-year and end of year reports students will receive an overall grade for each learning area reflecting their current level achievement. In determining this grade teachers use evidence of learning to make an on-balance judgement of student performance against the SCSA achievement standard for the learning area. The achievement standard describes the expected level that the majority of students are achieving or working towards by the end of that year of schooling. Teachers collect evidence of student learning through formal and informal assessments and use the SCSA Assessment Pointers to inform their professional judgement when reporting against the Achievement Standard.

Previously, for most learning areas, we have allocated a grade for the content strands or modes e.g. reading, writing, speaking and listening. While students learn specific skills in each strand/mode there is also an inter-connection in the concepts in these strands/modes and the way in which students learn and demonstrate their understanding of them. For example, reading and writing are inter-related and students use their literacy skills in understanding literature. The grade on the student report reflects students’ achievement to date in the whole learning area.

To ensure we provide high quality assessment and reporting practices, CEWA schools will no longer be grading strands or modes. Further detail regarding your child’s progress in the development of specific skills can be gained through a conversation with their teacher/s, as required. This includes feedback on how your child is achieving in learning areas in relation to the SCSA curriculum and assessment pointers and what they need to be able to display in order to progress in specific skill areas (e.g. reading, writing, number and algebra etc). Additionally, at St Brigid’s Primary School, all students will receive a goal for improvement for both Mathematics and English, as part of their report comment.

Please note the achievement standards describe the expected achievement for students who have been taught the curriculum content for the full year of schooling. The reports provided mid-year report on the level of achievement that the student is demonstrating relative to the achievement standard, taking into account the curriculum that has been taught and assessed to that point in time.

Some students require a differentiated curriculum to cater for their individual learning needs. These students have an Individual Education Plan and will receive a report which reflects student’s progress/achievement in terms of the modified curriculum

Thank you to all caregivers and children who were able to attend the workshop on Tuesday night.

The remainder of commitments are child only. If you have a large number of guests attending, please note the parents and siblings will sit with the child receiving First Communion. There will be seating available further back in the church for other guests.

RAD REWARDS RAD REWARDS

Congratulations to all the children who have already received an invitation to Lunch With Leadership (LWL)! LWL will take place in Week 11.

On Friday this week (week 6) we will have another draw at the Merit Assembly. There are plenty more chances to win, with draws coming up in Weeks 8 and 10!

RAD REWARDS is all about focusing on rewarding students for displaying the school values and following school rules, using manners and showing random acts of kindness. RAD REWARDS is not about academic or sporting success, but your child may be recognised for showing perseverance, or resilience around subject matter.

RAD REWARDS is designed to provide the opportunity to encourage and reward ALL students to want to be the best they can be. There has been an overwhelming response from students and staff alike.

Waste Free Wednesday Waste Free Wednesday

At St Brigid’s, we are excited to begin our Waste Free Wednesdays as part of our commitment to caring for the environment and “loving our Earth.”

Each Wednesday, we encourage all students and staff to bring a waste-free lunchbox and avoid any plastic wrapping. Together, we can make a big difference… one small change at a time!

✅ Ideas for a waste-free lunch:

• Pack snacks and lunches in reusable containers

🚫 What to avoid:

• Plastic bags, cling wrap, or foil

• Disposable bottles and juice boxes

• Snacks packaged in plastic

Let’s work together to reduce waste and build sustainable habits for our children.

♻️ Saving the planet one Wednesday at a time!

Thank you for your support!

A Message From The Canteen Manager:

Hello my name is Kylie and I have been the Canteen Manager at St Brigid's Primary School for over 12 years.

I am looking for any mums, dad, grandparents or careers who can spare some time to help out in the canteen. If you can't help for the entire day, that's not a problem, we would be grateful for anytime you can offer. The busiest time in the canteen is between 11.15am to 12.30pm. I find that the children love seeing there loved ones in the canteen it always bring a bit of fun into there day.

As a little "thank you" for your help, the canteen will provide you with lunch, a cold drink and bottomless cups of tea/coffee. Any additional information please feel free to come and see me in the canteen, I am happy to have a chat with you.
