Spring Glen Spotlight
Highlights From the Week!
⚡Quick Highlights - Week of 10/12
Dear Spring Glen Families,
Happy Friday! Here are some highlights from the week:
- 🚒 October is Fire Safety Month! Today, firemen from the HFD came to talk to students in grades K-3 about how to stay safe in emergencies. We learned about designating a family meeting place, "get out, stay out", and "stop, drop, and roll'.
- 📚 A reminder that on the HPS district website, you will find parent letters which provide deeper insight into each of the Wit & Wisdom modules that students in all grades K-6 are engaged in. Visit this site for more info: https://www.hamden.org/elementary-language-arts
- 🔎 October and November are very busy months in terms of community events. This afternoon, information on our Dress Like a Character Parade scheduled for 10/30 at 2:30 was shared through ParentSquare. More info is also below. Please review the information and do not hesitate to reach out with questions.
- We are working on a Veteran's Day assembly for 11/11. As part of this, we plan to invite veterans to join us to be celebrated. If your family has any veterans who would be interested in partaking, please reach out to me by email.
Enjoy the weekend.
Mike
🤝Parent/Teacher Conferences are Coming!
Next Wednesday and Thursday, 10/21 and 10/22, are Early Dismissal days for Parent/Teacher Conferences!
Have you scheduled your conference yet? If not, please see the message from your child's teacher, or reach out to them directly.
Here are 5 questions you can consider asking at your child's conference. Remember that this is an opportunity to learn about your child's holistic functioning as a student - academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. Kids are way more than test scores!
📸Scenes From The Week
Active listeners and participants during our Fire Safety presentations this morning. Ask your child what "get out, stay out" means! Do you have a family meeting place in the event of emergencies?
As part of their current reading module, third graders are learning about Jacques Cousteau. Students in Mrs. Reynolds' class engaged in verbal discussions with peers before independently writing a response to back up their opinion.
