The 14 Most Powerful Compliments to Give a Teacher

The 14 Most Powerful Compliments to Give a Teacher

Teaching-talk about an underappreciated profession! Without teachers, we wouldn't have doctors, lawyers, CEOs, engineers, authors . . . the list goes on. Teachers go through additional schooling, work nights and weekends, and somehow have a knack for holding on to their sanity while dealing with other people's kids.

Students should be dressed in a manner that supports learning. Common decency and good judgment are the expectations for student attire.

  • Students who are inappropriately dressed will be asked to fix the concern or call their parents for a change of clothes. Students who are unable to reach a parent for clothes may be asked to wait at a set location until a parent can be reached.

  • Clothing and / or accessories that could pose a safety issue are not allowed. This includes slippers or other footwear.

  • Inappropriate messages (alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, gang-related, sexually suggestive, profanity or violence, etc.) are not allowed on clothing.

  • Headphones / earbuds are not to be visible or worn in the classroom. They can be used in the hallway and cafe.

  • No bandanas.

  • Except for approved religious / medical purposes, head coverings may not be worn in classrooms. They can be worn in the halls and the cafeteria.

  • No sunglasses. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons with appropriate documentation from a doctor.

  • Chains must not be seen.

  • Appropriate pajama pants are acceptable.

  • No costumes unless administrator approval has been given.

  • Small purses are allowed.

  • Winter coats / jackets / vests / book bags / backpacks must be kept in lockers or classrooms during the school day.

  • No blankets or pillows.

  • Flags may not be worn as clothing

  • We recognize that student dress is primarily a family responsibility that should reflect concern for the health and safety of students.

Families will be contacted if the administration determines that their student’s clothing is inappropriate and alternate clothing is not available.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are offering Saturday School on Saturday, May 17th from 8-11 am. This opportunity is for students to catch up on work. It is not an opportunity to get more work assigned. School starts at 8 am at Rochester Middle School. Late arrivals will not be allowed in. Please fill out the student's name, grade, team, and dates your student will attend. Also, please sign acknowledging that you would like your son or daughter to attend. It would be great to leave the best contact number for those dates. Staff does an excellent job planning for these sessions, so it is important that we have accurate numbers and information. Thank you!

Respectfully,

Ryan Gilpatrick

Principal

Dear 7th Grade parents/guardians:

It's time to think about signing your student up for Spanish I for 8th grade. This class is offered as a full-year course for RMS 8th graders, taught in conjunction with the World Language program at Spaulding High School.

Students who complete Spanish 1 successfully (“B” or better for an overall grade) at RMS can go directly into Spanish 2 upon entry during their Freshman year at SHS. Students who receive an overall grade of "C" will need teacher recommendation for Spanish 2.

This course is for students who love learning about Language and Culture! It is an Academic course that includes note taking, homework, projects, quizzes and exams, as well as an expectation for active participation in class.

Students interested in signing up for this class will need to have taken Spanish class in 6th or 7th grade and passed with an overall end of trimester grade of either Competent or Exceeds Competent. Forms are available outside of Room 176 and the cafeteria. Signed forms are due by Friday, May 23rd.

Questions and interest should be directed to:

Gracias,

Mrs. Verville
