Dear Garden Road Families,

Back to School Night saw many families coming on campus and making connections this past Thursday night. Thank you for taking the time to come and join us. Our PTA and Foundation was there to celebrate the start of the year and to let all parents know how to get involved at Garden Road. Please join our PTA!

Mr. Hicks is our assistant principal. He joins us from Chapparal Elementary. He is busy making connections with students as we start this year. He was in the crosswalk for the last two days. If you see him, say hi and introduce yourself!

New ParentVUE Mobile App

Edupoint has released a modernized ParentVUE (New) mobile application and retired the older ParentVUE app. Families should download the updated version to maintain access to student grades, schedules, and attendance records. Here are some easy directions you might provide to families:

How to Get Started with ParentVUE (New)

• Remove Old App: Delete the old ParentVUE app from your phone first so the new version functions correctly.

• Download: Search for ParentVUE (New) directly in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or follow the upgrade prompt inside your legacy (old) ParentVUE app.

• Connect to District: Open the new app, swipe through the intro, and search for your school district using your postal zip code.

• Log In: If prompted, select "Already Activated" if you already have an account, and sign in using your existing username and password.

Sue Melnick

Principal

We’re thrilled to kick off Running Club for the new school year starting Wednesday, September 9! Running Club meets every morning at 7:25 AM, students enter through the MPR gate.

This year, we are encouraging families to register online. Please use the QR or click this link for registration. We’re asking that all students register in advance so we can collect parent contact information and reduce printing costs. Lanyards will only be printed for students who are registered. Registration is due by August 31st. Parent volunteers will scan the lanyards each morning so students can earn fun prizes as they rack up miles.

Prizes in the past have included:

• Lanyards

• Bracelets

• Shirts for reaching 50 and 100 miles

• Beanies

• Socks

• Water bottles

For TK & Kindergarten: Running Club will take place during school on Wednesdays and Fridays with their classes. No registration is required for TK/K students.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help scan lanyards and cheer on the runners! If you’d like to help, please contact Bethany Wilde at bethanymwilde@gmail.com. Volunteers must be cleared through the office to be on campus.

Thank you for supporting Running Club!

Soccer Shots at Garden Road Elementary TK-5th.

• Thursdays, 12:35 PM-1:20 PM

• $79/month

• On-campus at school

No extra driving for parents! Join Soccer Shots for a fun and active program teaching social-emotional and soccer skills. Who knows, maybe your child will help us win one of these World Cups?! Dreams start here.

We hope everyone will come out to learn more about Cub Scout Pack 617 on Sunday, August 23rd 1-3pm at Garden Road Park. Joining Cub Scouts helps children build character, make new friends, and learn outdoor and life skills through family-focused activities. We have a monthly Pack meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and additional outings and Den meetings to inspire and teach kids thru scouting principles.

Grab a friend and come check us out!!

GRES Foundation is partnering with Impact Martial Arts of Poway to offer our Eagles an affordable chance to try martial arts! For ages 4 and up, $99 includes 4 weeks of classes, a full white uniform, and white belt.

To make the deal sweeter, 100% of the proceeds from this offer will be donated back to Garden Road Elementary School!

These funds will provide educational enrichments like our foundation-funded art program, Golden Ticket incentives, new library books, access to educational apps, parent support workshops, field trip grants, classroom materials, and much more.
