OLVCS Updates

It is the month of Mary and our school has experienced OLV day to celebrate the feast of our Patroness, Our Lady of Victory. We continue to pray the rosary and complete Marion class projects. I was fortunate to have visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception this past weekend when I visited my son, an OLVCS alum, for parent weekend at his college, Catholic University of America, adjacent to the shrine. The Basilica has many side chapels with beautiful works of art, as pictured here. I lit a candle at the Miraculous Medal Chapel for our school. This chapel commemorates the apparition of Mary to Saint Catherine Labouré of France in 1830. Above the altar is a wood carving of the Miraculous Medal covered in gold gilt. All Hallows Eve and Trunk or Treat will be here before you know it! Please see the Signup Genius below to participate in our Trunk or Treat event. We need help from everyone to make the day a success: families, adult helpers and MS students (service hours). It looks to be an amazing night for all families, Preschool-8th grade! Thank you to our PTG for organizing this event!

There is no school tomorrow, 10/16 due to a diocesan inservice. However, we will have five straight weeks of five days coming up! We are going to make the most of that time before the Thanksgiving break.

• All families who hand out candy will be awarded a dress down day for each child in their family.
• Prizes will also be awarded for the top three decorated cars.
• Need a buddy to help your child collect candy and visit the pumpkin patch? Sign up and we will pair them with a middle school or high school volunteer!

Our Lady of Victory Catholic School invites you to Trunk-or-Treat. Families are welcome to join us for trick-or-treating, fall snacks, and a trip to the pumpkin patch. We NEED you to make it a success by handing out candy from your car! If you are unable to hand out candy, we would still love to have you join us in costume. Please sign up your family below. We ask that all cars that hand out candy are parked in the back lot by 4:30 pm to allow traffic to be blocked off at the start of the event. Come in costume, decorate your trunk, and hand out candy! Happy Halloween!

NOTES ON TRAFFIC:

• Families handing out candy should enter the back lot from Saxton Dr. (As you would for drop off/pick up)
• Families that are not handing out candy should enter the back lot from Westerly Parkway.

OLVCS is having our annual IGNATIUS BOOK FAIR November 10-15th! We need help with set up, packing up, and sales throughout the week. There will be time during school Tuesday -Thursday for OLV Students to purchase books and after Masses on Saturday and Sunday for our whole parish community. Please sign up below. You may volunteer for any time slot. Classes are listed in the time slots if you'd like to volunteer with your student's class.

Our preschoolers had an exciting visit from a fire truck from Alpha Fire Company and a State College Police Officer!The children loved learning about fire safety, staying safe, and the important roles our local first responders play in keeping our community safe.

A huge THANK YOU to Alpha Fire Company and the State College Police Department for taking the time to visit our preschool, teach our little learners, and make safety education so fun and memorable! We are so grateful for the wonderful people who help keep our families and community safe.

Damascus Summer Camp 2027 Pre-Order registration is open. Because our group placed a Pre-Order, your camper has early access to our reserved spaces before general registration opens.

Please register by October 31st at 5 PM. After this deadline, any unregistered Pre-Order spaces will be released and made available to other groups and the general public.
