Child care will be provided for school age students so that parents/guardians are free to participate in sessions of interest.

Families will have the opportunity to attend sessions focused on:

· Positive Behavior Support – strategies to support behavior at home and school

· Focus & Organization – helping children manage time, attention, and responsibilities

· Escaping Vaping – understanding risks and how to talk with children and teens

· Families & Technology – navigating screen time, social media, and digital wellness

· Supporting Early Reading – building strong literacy skills from the start

This evening is designed to be informative, supportive, and collaborative. We look forward to partnering with families as we work together to support the well-being and success of our students. This flyer will provide you with a full description and registration information for this event.

Winter Recess (information per the Student Handbook)

The twenty (20) minute recess periods are supervised by playground aides, teachers and other team members. Teachers may take their classes outside at their discretion. All students are required to go outdoors for recess when the weather is suitable. Please note when the wind chill is 18° Fahrenheit or below, students will remain inside. The building principal will determine the location of recess based on all weather conditions. If a child has a cold or should not be outdoors for some other physical reason, a note stating the reason must be sent to the teacher. A doctor's written statement is required if a child is to remain indoors for a period of one week or more. Appropriate footwear must be worn, or students may not be permitted to participate in certain playground activities. For example, sandals prohibit a child from running or kicking games and climbing on equipment. The recess environment may change based on the principal’s discretion.

News from the Nurse

Welcome to 2026! We hope you and your families had a restful break and were able to recharge with family and friends! As we resume classes:

  • Please send your student(s) to school each day with appropriate shoes and outdoor attire (coat, hat, gloves). Students will be outside for recess as much as the cold weather will allow. Crocs and slipper-type shoes are discouraged, and not appropriate for PE class and running outside!
  • Please send your student(s) to school each day with a refillable water bottle. Water refilling stations are also available in the school hallways.
  • Please encourage your student(s) to apply lip ointment and hand lotions at home. They may also bring their own lip ointment and hand lotion to school as long as they are not sharing these items.

Requesting Health Room Donations:

  • New - Boys underwear (sizes 6-8, sizes 8-10, sizes 10-12).
  • New or Gently Used - Unisex sweatpants (sizes 6-8, sizes 8-10, sizes 10-12).

Some Tips to Keep Your Kids Healthy During Cold and Flu Season:

  • Wash Your Hands: Teach your children the importance of covering their mouth and nose when they cough or sneeze, to keep germs from spreading, and frequent handwashing with soap and water!
  • Get Active: Indoors or outdoors! Kids should get regular, moderate exercise to boost their immune systems. Studies have shown that being active can help reduce cold and flu episodes.
  • Get plenty of sleep: Children need between 9 and 14 hours of sleep a day depending on their age. Sleep deprivation can weaken the immune system and increase the risk of getting sick.
  • Eat a well-balanced diet: Provide meals with plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables to help boost children’s immune systems. Look for foods rich in vitamin C and vitamin D. Avoid sugary and processed foods.
  • Decrease stress: Elevated stress hormones can lead to decreased immunity. Give kids plenty of down time for rest and creative play to help lower their stress levels and keep them from getting sick.
  • Avoid germy sharing: Sharing is good for kids, but many commonly shared items can be breeding grounds for germs. Teach children to never share straws and cups, caps and scarves, or anything that comes in contact with their mouths and faces.
  • Clean Surfaces Regularly: Studies have shown that the flu virus can live and potentially infect a person for up to 48 hours after landing on a surface. Germs often grow on multiple surfaces, such as doorknobs, toys, or countertops. Regularly sanitize these surfaces.
  • Keep Your Kids Home When They Are Sick: Does your child have an elevated temperature (100°F or higher)? Do they have a questionable rash? Are they acting unusually today? If the answer is “yes,” it is probably best to keep your child home from school and contact your pediatrician. Make sure they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medications before returning to school.

Important Attendance Request Reminders...

On August 20th, we shared a message with our families regarding new attendance reporting procedures through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. We are happy to report that the transition to the new reporting platform has gone smoothly, and we truly appreciate your patience and cooperation!

We have a few reminders that will help simplify the process for all of you.

1. Please report ALL Absence Requests through the IC Parent Portal including full day absences, late arrivals, leaving early, and Educational Trip Requests.

2. An Absence Reason is REQUIRED when completing the Absence Request. In order for the request to be coded accurately, the reason for the absence must be SPECIFIC. The reason should be entered in the comment section.

2. An Absence Request for an Educational Trip REQUIRES TWO STEPS. The first is the submission of the Absence Request in Infinite Campus. The second is completion of the Educational Trip Form. Your Educational Trip Request CANNOT be approved until BOTH steps are completed.

3. When submitting an Absence Request for leaving early, please indicate the name of the person who will be picking up the student in the comments field. This information is REQUIRED for our security processes.

Thank you for your attention to this important update. We appreciate your cooperation!
