The school counseling time is excited to begin the 2025-2026 course selection process in February for all current 8th graders. Course selection will occur electronically. Basic Dental Screening Basic Dental Screening

Northern Burlington County Regional Middle School has been selected by the New Jersey Children’s Oral Health Program to participate in a basic dental screening survey on Thursday, February 27. Students who participate will have an approximately 5 minute screening during their physical education class. Participation is completely optional and requires written parental consent. If parents wish to have their child participate, this parental consent document, linked HERE, needs to be printed, signed, and returned to the main office. Your student’s participation will help the state build local oral health programs and increase Dental services for children in New Jersey. Parents will also receive a letter indicating the results of the screening and information on where to obtain free or reduced cost dental services, and the student will receive a dental kit including a toothbrush. The last day to submit the consent forms is February 13, 2025. For any questions or additional information, please contact The Middle School Nurse, Mrs. Pugliese, 609-298-3900 x 4030 or tpugliese@nburlington.com

Clinical Corner Clinical Corner

I hope you took time for yourself and encouraged your students/teens to do so as well to reflect on 2024. Since January is often the month to declutter and organize basically anything and everything, it is also a good way to give your mental health a boost right at the start of the New Year. Here are some key points as to how decluttering helps your mental health:

Reduces stress: Clutter can trigger feelings of overwhelm and stress, while decluttering provides a sense of order and control, lowering cortisol levels.

Improves focus: When your surroundings are organized, it becomes easier to concentrate on tasks and reduce distractions, leading to better focus and productivity.

Boosts mood: The act of decluttering and achieving a clean space can provide a sense of accomplishment, leading to a more positive mood and increased self-esteem.

Enhances sleep: A tidy bedroom can promote better sleep quality by creating a calming environment for relaxation.

Increases creativity: Clearing out unnecessary items can open up mental space for new ideas and creative thinking and writing.

Winter Sport Spectators Winter Sport Spectators

Winter sports season is underway. While we appreciate our students wanting to come out and support their classmates, we are not equipped to provide supervision to student spectators. As a result, students who wish to watch a basketball game or wrestling match must first go home and then return with a responsible adult who will stay with them for the duration of the contest. There will be a sign in process for students and their adult chaperones when they arrive at the contest.
