KMS NEWSLETTER

Dear KMS Families,
We have several fun and meaningful things happening at KMS as we close out the semester and head into a new quarter.
Tomorrow begins Quarter 3, bringing a fresh rotation of electives and Flex classes. Students will have new opportunities to explore interests and build skills as we move forward in the year.
Semester 1 report cards will be sent home with students on Wednesday, so please be sure to check backpacks and take a moment to review progress together.
Our Spelling Bee takes place this Friday, and families are invited to join us in the Commons starting at 4:00 PM to support our participants. Parking is available in the playground lot, and you can enter through the Commons door. We hope you will come cheer on our students as they take the stage. The winner of our school bee will move on to represent KMS at the district spelling bee.
We are also excited to share details about our first Friday Night Live of the school year on the 30th, from 6-8pm. This FNL's theme is Boots and Beats, featuring a country and western vibe with line dancing, bingo, a photo booth, games, prizes, karaoke, concessions, and more. It is always a great opportunity to connect, relax, and enjoy time with other KMS families. Please note that any office referrals for Tier 2 or Tier 3 behaviors that occur between now and the event may result in ineligibility to attend. Students must also attend school for more than half the day on the day of the event.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership. We truly appreciate our families and all you do to support our students and school community.

How You Can Encourage Your Middle/High Schooler to Read
MRS. JACKSON'S 8TH GRADE CODING AND DESIGN CLASS
8th grade Coding and Design students taught a coding activity to the 5th graders at Main in December for the HOUR OF CODE through Code.org. 5th graders learned about AI and programmed a song and dance of their chosen dancing animal/alien!
One 5th grade teacher said, “Your students were prepared and knowledgeable. They managed the questions and needs of my students very well and keep the pace appropriate and fun. I heard them encouraging fifth graders to be creative and take their time, while also reminding a few to follow directions and focus. Anytime you want to do another lesson/project, please let us know.”
MRS. KING'S ART CLASS
Having fun with Art in the snow!.
