ELIZABETH MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM GOES UNDEFEATED
The Elizabeth Middle School Wrestling Team wrapped up an incredible season and one for the books. The team, after much hard work, went 10-0 in the North Peak Athletic Conference and tied with Challenger Middle School for the Championship of the Conference.
The team built on last year's success with a hard-nosed commitment to each other and to winning. As such, practice was never pleasant, but the athletes embraced this mentality and held each other accountable for giving it their all.
"This team was just the best, fun, supportive of each other, eager to wrestle hard and tough and had a strong drive to win," says Coach Merrill Adams. "Because of this, we had the best season a team could ask for. Many of our wrestlers are returning next year, so stay tuned!"
Mark Carara added, "The kids and coaches had an amazing wrestling season. One for the record books!"
Congratulations to the EMS Wrestling Team for a fantastic season. Be sure to watch this month's ESD Superintendent Monthly Review for more commentary about this great finish.

ESD MUSIC TOUR VISITS ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS
The Elizabeth High School Choir, Orchestra, and Band programs took an exciting step to connect with students in the district by visiting all local elementary and middle schools on Tuesday, March 11th. This initiative aimed to expose younger students to the diverse musical opportunities available as they transition into middle school and high school.
By showcasing the vibrant performances and offerings of these programs, the high school’s talented musicians provided an inspiring preview of what students can expect when they join the music programs at our secondary schools. Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Kaumeyer would like to thank the staff and administrators in each building for making time for this special event!

INDEPENDENT CLASSICAL ACADEMY COMING TO ESD IN THE FALL 2025
THERE IS A NEW CLASSICAL CHARTER SCHOOL COMING TO ELIZABETH THIS
FALL!
Independence Classical Academy (ICA), a new elementary classical charter school, is coming to Elizabeth in August 2025.
What sets Independence Classical Academy (ICA) apart from the other schools in the area is that it offers a classical education, which is grounded in the belief that education should cultivate wisdom as well as virtue.
Grammar, logic, and rhetoric provide the foundational framework through which students acquire knowledge, develop critical thinking, and master oral and written communication skills. In addition to providing intellectual rigor, foundation stones (virtues) are taught that instill a sense of moral responsibility. Through the Core Knowledge Curriculum which includes history, literature, science and art, students are reconnected with the wisdom of the past, preparing them to engage meaningfully with the challenges of the present, envision a better future, and develop a capacity to know the good, the true, and the beautiful.
With regards to location, for the first year (2025-2026), the plan is to hold classes in the Frontier School building on Banner Street in the town of Elizabeth while the new building is being built. Then, for the second year (2026-2027), the plan is to move into the new school building which will be located near the corner of CR 158 and Delbert Road in the new Independence Neighborhood. For students living in-district, busing will be provided by the Elizabeth School District starting in the fall of 2025 and will continue after the move into the new building.
