It has been a productive week! Please be sure to ask your student for their progress report or log in to HAC for their current grades and attendance. Reminder that their attendance/check-in during lunch advisory is required.

Our construction zone is progressing. Both buildings have been leveled out and the space is close to being cleared.

Communication Devices

Cell Phone Confiscation & Pick-Up Procedures

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

As we continue to reinforce our campus cell phone procedures and comply with state law, we want to ensure that all students and families clearly understand the expectations regarding personal communication devices during the school day.

Confiscation & Parent/Guardian Pick-Up

Any phone or personal communication device confiscated for violating the policy must be picked up by a parent or guardian. Students will not be permitted to retrieve confiscated devices themselves.

If a student is found using a phone or other personal communication device to include airpods, headphones, or any other electronic device during class, passing periods, lunch, or any other unauthorized time during the school day, the student will be directed to hand the device/item to a staff member or administrator. The device/item will then be:

  1. Collected from the student.
  2. Tagged with identifying information.
  3. Secured in the APO until it can be released to a parent/guardian according to campus pick-up procedures.

Parents/Guardians will receive an email notification when their student’s device has been confiscated.

Refusal to Comply

Students who refuse to surrender a device when directed by a staff member or administrator will be subject to additional disciplinary consequences for failure to comply with a staff directive and campus procedures.

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to speak with their students about these expectations.

Our goal is not to confiscate devices.

Our goal is:

*To minimize distractions

*Protect instructional time

*Maintain a focused learning environment

*Ensure compliance with state law.

We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations with your student. Working together, we can maintain a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment for all students.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

CAMPUS SAFETY REMINDERS

We are required by the Texas Educational Agency to keep all exterior doors locked throughout the entire school day.

A valid student ID is required to enter a secure building. You MUST have a student ID every day and visible while on campus.

Parents, guardians, and visitors are required to present a state issued ID to enter the attendance office and conduct school business.

Student IDs are also required to collect a breakfast or lunch tray and to enter the school bus.

Students, please DO NOT bang or kick on exterior doors to be let into a building. This can cause damage to our doors and our campus—and could also result in costly repairs. which you will be responsible for. Knocking on exterior doors is disruptive to the students who arrived on time.

Find an administrator or staff member to open the door for you. More importantly, let’s work on getting to class on time so we don’t have to wait at all!

Only students with off campus lunch privileges may leave during their assigned lunch period. Exiting the campus without permission through unauthorized areas is dangerous and will result in disciplinary action.

September 11

Due to our current construction project we are unable to host our September 11th ceremony. Our ROTC cadets will continue to honor the lives lost on this day by participating in a unit-centric ceremony but it will not be open to the public. Thank you for your understanding. We expect to have the large circle open and available for next year's ceremony.
